Contrast is basically making lights lighter and darks darker. In this case, making snow maps painful to look at. Definitely look at your settings again, ideally while a snowy map is loaded so you can observe as you tweak.

Another thing to note is this: If you open mesh A in loathing, go to the units palette and change an existing entry to another entry.... the effect will take place, and you can place more of that newly selected unit.... but Loathing has no way of reloading the mesh references once it's loaded and di...

There's no 'easy' way to go about what you're suggesting, in the sense of low plugin size, or in procedure. Or just pretend you tested the last levels, release it, and wait for bug reports to filter in and patch those bugs later. The bugs in question existed in the original and people want to play that, so I doubt it'd be a problem to release the fixed & mostly tested newer version and call it a day.
