Re: Mazz VI: Wisdom of the Mancers
Thanks, Godz, but a Mazz VII is out of the question. I made the last version at the height of my mapmaking capabilities, and it took nearly a year. If I started now, got all the help I needed, and spent another year, maybe what came out would be worthy of the title, maybe not. Either way, I’m not ...

Re: Mazz VI: Wisdom of the Mancers
It's been a long time since I played, but I'd add a couple minor points to the excellent tactics already posted. Web: Good very early on when Maul can still be difficult to manage. Good as a moderate cost solution for Ghost Archers or smaller packs of Ghols. Can also be useful for the slowing effect...

Aww, Iron, who'd I ever flame? Bet you can't name a single person (who didn't deserve it). Renwood, now we're talking about a matter of degrees in how much random numbers are used. Myth uses them sparingly, it's true, but still uses them for things like damage amounts, arrows being slightly off targ...

...gameplay style of motherfucking DICE ROLLING COMBAT makes me puke inside my mouth and swollow it every time i watch it in action. We had dice back in the day because we NEEDED THEM....Now we have SUPER COMPUTERS so we DONT need to roll dice anymore! ~8^) Not sure what game you were watching, but...

The masses will ALLWAYS accept mediocrity over high art. A great artist told me that years ago. I don't know if it's always that simple, Renwood. If you asked your artist friend what seperates high art over mediocrity, I bet he or she will list sophistication as one of the most important attributes...

Aww, thanks Gray, I miss you guys too, hence my checking in here and making sure all the facts are straight. all this dismal talk of the worst part of myth's history being played out repeatedly over and over every few months on WoW makes me wonder why you, of all people, continue to submerse ...

Thank you for being a case in point, Renwood, but next time try not to be so obvious or they'll think I'm paying you. OtA's post makes me realize one thing in long belated hindsight: no patch should ever be released just before MWC and we were in a rush to do just exactly that. Those things may seem...

I think ChrisP was using that as an example not that he was implying to make such drastic changes to Myth gameplay. He just meant that in comparison, it doesn't seem reasonable for people to be so against the Myth updates when they don't do great changes like in WoW. Close, Pyro. :) I wasn't implyi...

Iron, first, hi! :) Second, while I don’t necessarily totally disagree with any of your points, I think you give them far too much weight. To start with, being an expert at playing a game isn’t the same as being an expert at making (or improving) a game - no more than eating a lot make...

Also, not sure if you were speaking specifically to me - but I don't believe I've ever 'blamed' Project Magma for anything. No, of course not. Most of what I wrote are sort of afterthoughts to Igmo's eloquent OP and 2004 proposal to cease all modifications of Myth. It was an emotional subject for m...

...that the 'good' we ascribe is a subjective perception. I think your example of masses vs. experts having different views of whether something is 'good' or how good something is reinforces my point - that change itself is not inherently good or bad, it is the subjective evaluation of the change w...

WTF? Someone made the forums so there's now a size limit? There's an example of a terrible change! ahem... ...New patches are released every two or three months for years to come. Consider these patches to be of the same quality, with the same number and caliber of features and “improvementsâ...
