240 is not a hard limit. Badlands routinely indexed their cmaps to 242 or 243 colors and things worked fine. I think it just means there will be a fewer colors for blood and other mesh stains. Now, whether the extra two or three colors really makes a difference to your cmap, or not, remains questio...

I don't see any problem with re-releasing Jinn in its original form (plus whatever is needed to get it working on 1.5). As long as the plugin remains true to the original version and as long as nobody is trying to claim credit that isn't due them, permission shouldn't really be needed. Vista no lon...

Topic: The Alamo - Should someone make an Alamo map?

Well...you'd have to modify the uniforms becasue the Alamo happened somewere in the middle 1800's. The Civil War happened in in the 1860's. By your timeline, the two happened almost at the same time. The 1860s are almost exactly the middle of the 1800s. The battle at the Alamo actually took place i...

The Alamo was a this kick ass bunker complex in Texas, and one time about half a million Mexicans tried to capture it, but this one American with a sweet fur hat killed them all with a pair of gattling guns mounted on a cast iron turret, which rotated 360 degrees and was powered by a giant buffalo ...

I bet things like that get more noticeable the higher your screen resolution.

Loathing is probably not freezing on you, it just takes a very long time for Add Model Shading to complete its work. Unfortunately, Loathing does not offer any progress feedback in these cases, but just be patient, it should work if you give it enough time. I've made a couple of maps that used over...

Welcome aboard Phillock. Collection References are not the actual graphics, those are simply called Collections. Collection References are another type of tag that help you use Collections in different ways. Among other things, Collection References are used to adjust the hues and tints of a Collec...

A variation on this was done in Rohan's Myth Warrior conversion. At the beginning of the solo, you used one unit to shoot and blow up one of three things on the mesh -- depending on what you destroyed, you got additional units of a specific type.

High resolution color maps were considered more than once. There are a lot of reasons why this was never touched, but a big one is that the 8-bit colormaps already make for gigantic file sizes, which makes for long downloads and slow loading times before games start (this has been partially helped ...

Most of our projects are pretty involved, so yea, they take a long time. Syndicate is essentially a total conversion with new units, all new tags, new maps, new models, etc. SF2 is a ton of new tags and many new maps, plus Ozone has been pretty much working on it solo (I've contributed a few small ...

Sillek, that isn't true, though I admit it's hard to tell what we're really working on since our website hasn't been seriously updated for a while. We have some very big projects in the works, the first of which is the final release of 1.5.1, which should be our last update. This will be released w...

Okay, there's another problem you might be experiencing, called ghosting. Sometimes Loathing fails to completely delete a model from the mesh. It will look like there isn't a model in a certain place, but if you click on the submesh tool, you'll notice a blue outline of a non-existant model in a pl...

When chat about the 'design of the site' exceeds chat about the content, that's it, it's all over Rover, forgeddaboudit, it's not going to happen. This happens in the real world, too. I've seen many marketing meetings begin with "today, we're going to talk goals and strategy for the next two y...

Suppose you have two artifacts: Flaming Hellsword of Death, and Mithril Plated Boots of Speed. You want both to be useable by a berzerk, and only a berzerk. You want the berzerk to able to hold both artifacts and switch between them whenever he wants (using the artifact inventory feature). Therefor...
