Yes the public beta has been released, it's Build 284.

thetain.net still only lists build 283, even though the main page tells you to go there to get the public beta

You might want to hit the refresh button on your browser, because the page shouldn't be listing any build # and show be radically different from the previous ones.

Runs perfectly fine on my G5 iMac. I think it is important that is doesn't scramble up on PPC.

It certainly did away with that horrible 30 seconds or so of seizure-inducing res shifts that used to happen on startup (XP). That in itself makes the update worthwhile for me, heh. More comments when I've tried out the gameplay.

right on, that flicker in the beginning was killer, i would keep away from loading up myth2 just because of that. anyways main reason i downloaded the update was for the windows mode, finally!. one question about it though, when i maximize the window i guess its not possible to re-window it without logging out and going to options?

i hope that bug that made all the chat/f7 stats etc. go invisible on minimizing is fixed also? ;)

You can re-window it using alt-F11.

aha the problem is solved...

http://thetain.net takes you to the old page with build 283
http://www.thetain.net takes you to the new page!

this is not a cache issue as i tried more than one browser and reset the cache, perhaps make them point to the same place? confused the hell out of me, especially as the main projectmagma page and the playmyth website link to the OLD page!

and il try the PB when i get back home to my intel mac in 2 days, stuck on a G5 atm, though il give it a spin on that too

ok now for some actual feedback, this is using a 2GHz G5 imac, 10.4.7 with 1GB of RAM, not what my sig says.

A question: now that the intel-only version is now osx-only, what is the other 1.6 app for?

Performance: With 1.5.1 on this comp max fps yield is 400fps constant in prettyy much any game.
With the OSX only version i get a maximum of 60-80fps, while this is enough for a smooth game on any map, it seems strangely low?
With the non osx only app i got 90-110fps, a little higher.

A bug: Using the OSX only app, in the saved game box, any map saved with 1.5.1, or any version prior to 1.6 no preiview picture of the game is displayed, instead the box is just black.
On the non OSX only app, for games saved with versions < 1.6, a preiview is shown but seems to have a random zoom, often zooming really close on the ground.

http://thetain.net/ & http://www.thetain.net/ both take me to the new page. You must have a proxy server between you and the site. Because the one hosting the build 283 doesn't exist anymore the files just aren't on the server any more.

Also 1.6 will show lower FPS then 1.5.1 because with all previous versions myth would never render more then 30 fps...that cap has been removed so Myth has to work much harder to push the # above 30fps. But you really like really high FPS #s, click the reduce renderer load box and also uncheck the high resolution box and you should get some killer FPS #s.

The other 1.6 app is for people using OS 9 and has a debug tool for people to check for differences with the Universal build. I should have named the OS X one Universal instead of OS X. I will do that for the final release.

Win XP

Hosting a multiplayer game on a LAN, I crash out of Myth every time the game comes to some resolution (i.e. lose or quit.. sadly haven't experienced a win condition yet so not sure if that crashes it as well)

Other players go to summary screen as usual.

scroll wheel (atleast with mighty mouse on g5) no longer scrolls up and down chat or player list on the the online server, i liked that feature.
