not really, Oak works directly on the local folders, you apply the high res textures directly onto the colour map, in a 3d view sort of loathing but better

Speaking of scary, I fear I must warn you all that this forum is now haunted.

Be afraid.

Yes. Beware the GHOST who tags
OMGGOZTCOMEPLAYWOW!!!

As for news, uDogs, with all its intimate ties to Project Magma, is turning 10 years old on January 1st. With nearly 100 active members, including a handful from the earliest days, the Underdogs are still playing as hard as ever.

Maybe not the most earth shattering Myth news, but it beats what's up there now.

Of course, 1.7 w/ support for 512 Mons tags (a start...) now that would be news. Alas, Myth's keepers are more interested in preserving history than making news. ;(

On another topic, some months ago, I was thinking about mapmaking and had a staggeringly brilliant idea, a novel way to reduce all the things I loved about massive army maps into a truly elegant and simple gameplay design. Of course, the tagediting would be anything but elegant or simple, but it'd be doable. Not sure why I even mention it now, as I'll almost certainly never act upon it myself and trust no one else to get it right, but damn, its one of those "why didn't I think of that before" ideas. Maybe just the act of announcing I have the idea will relieve the desire to blow the dust off F&L.

Anyhows, best wishes to all!

Imagine if, years ago, I showed up on some elite mapmaking forum and posted, "OMG I got this great idea for a map!! It'll be, like, this HUGE war against THOUSANDS of enemies!! It'll be about one of Myth's historical battles and its going to have DRAGONS and Liches and Beholders and different wizards that can cast dozens of spells each!! More than 50 different kinds of units!! Blah, blah, blah!! But I have no time to work on it, can someone else please make it exactly how I want? kkthxbye!"

Granted, this time the idea would seem underwhelming. The reaction would be, "so?". The idea is so deceptively simple, and such a departure from Myth's traditional game play "style", that I think it'd have to be experienced to be appreciated. But damn, I know with the right touch it would be hot.

So yeah, it's pretty retarded to say I have this super cool idea that I'm going to keep a secret, but I couldn't help myself. So I'll say this much, the concept would be to take extreme large scale battles and make them playable without the need for 16 players in the game. I've always loved huge battles in Myth, but wished for more players to control the units rather than try to come up with a feasible way to streamline control over the action. Ah well.

ChrisP check out B14DDAT in my udogs folder when you get a chance. Its a futile attempt at Deceiver vs Watcher and I ripped off alot of your Mazz stuff but some have found it fun. It does need another Beta update though.

Chris, I've had a backlash against WoW and have almost stopped playing. We need to get all the old Mazz crew back together and do some games.

On a side note we defeated Mazz SL and Reg Legodary with 8 people without losing any major units. Enter mazz 7 ? Orly

When Newskin's in the UK next year, he's meeting up with myself and Enigman. Enculator said he could come over from France if we time it right. Trev and Youngsy want to come too but I think their A-level exams will get in the way. Last week of May is probably when it'll happen, but sometime in April/May.

That'll be cool. Barely know any of them, but hey, I can laugh at Enculator's funny French accent!
