Problems playing multiplayer and hosting HELP!

Post by Chicken Berel »

Ok me and my friend recently got back into myth, and he is having problems. here are his e mails he sent me the other day:

1st e mail

Hey, just wondering if you knew anything about this -- I did the port forwarding, but I can't host. I don't care so much about that, but when games I've joined start, I get left behind in a frozen game lobby. From what I can tell, there are some tcp connections, besides the one directly for myth.exe, that are created. I think these are with some game database, something like roofgaming.net, and these might be the problem. You know what this shit is?

2nd e mail

I played with it some more, no luck. Bah.

Ok magma people, so there you have it, my buddy cant play. hes on a windows machine, I will have to ask what OS. I bet it is windows 7 or maybe XP ill ask him.

HELP US!

Please post his computer specs including OS, RAM, video card, etc.

Also please have him post the contents of his myth_log.txt file when one of these freezes happens.

By Myth, do you mean Myth TFL or Myth II?

How was myth installed (original CD, online download etc)?

Have you installed the latest update (1.5 for Myth TFL, 1.7.1 for Myth II)?

Which multiplayer option are you using (Mariusnet, LAN/hamachi etc)?

You did the portforwarding, but do you also have software firewalls active (windows firewall, norton, zonealarm etc)? If so they will also need to be correctly configured.

from the casual use of 'magma people' i think it's entirely reasonable to assume the poster could have meant 'people who read the magma forums', not 'the official project magma development team'.

either way though, godz provided helpful feedback and didn't make any claims to be associated with magma. where's the harm?

Married? No wonder you don't seem to play myth anymore, I am happy you have moved on with your life. Eventually I will too.

Ha, truely. Im in the mapmaking mode still a little. To be honest I been reading my Kindle alot. Reading is good, since I despised it before. Other good news is they started making Bud Dry again. Why ask why? Drink bud dry.

Though I have never used a kindle, I like holding the book in my hand while I read, and having to turn the pages. But I did read a couple books on my PDA once, and didn't really like it.

'chicken', In the interests of forum civility, it would really be better if you don't talk to me unless there's something you really need to say to me.

Kindle is nice especially on the beach. But its just an E-Reader, the best e-reader ever. You can also play myth on kindle. Take that IPAD
