After 10 years... local folder question

Hi mythmaniacs it nice to see the myth comunity still thrives! I reainstalled myth today after a long time(playing in windows instead of mac first time as well) and I`m loving it again, and sucking at it:S.
Anyway I couldnt figure smth out so I hope someone wiser in the ways of mything can help me
I seem to remember there was a tag extractor (i did some browsing and now its untag) and I could extract plugins to a folder named local. I used to play a marathon and an alien mod but in solo campaign, by extracting to local folder, and then all the solo campaign's units would be the units from the mod. I tried doing it but the vanilla units no longer get replaced? I cant remember if before I went into loathing and changed the references for each mission, since I was like 10 years old and while I remember playing it, I dont remembe tthe details of how I did it?
One more thing, I also recall there was a cmapaign where it was the same as vanilla solo but with units of the dark, but I cant find it. It was made by someone named Sycorax? Sorry if it was someone else. Anyway it had a mission called garricks folly, with horsemounted knights, and the mission of twice born was called synergy of the dark? If someone identifies it and can help me locate it i'd be ery grateful, I didnt find it in the tain.

Extracting the tags from a plugin won't just replace default units unless they were already replacing units to start with. Either find a variation of that plugin that replaces default units or open Fear, go to the units section. Then open each unit tag you wish like say the berserk tag, and replace the monster tag it is linked to with a marathon unit of your choice. Then in collection reference choose one of the options you have after replacing the monster tag.

I don't think you need to do this because there must be some marathon theme plugin out there that does it already. I just don't know them so I don't know which they are or where to find them.

there are a handful of marathon plugs out there, one of the more recent (and probably the one that replaces units on the most 3rd party maps) can be found in baak's "Solo Anywhere' tagset available at http://www.orderofhpak.com/OoHDownloads.php -- it has plugin replacement 'packs' for ADT(Alien), Marathon, MythWarrior, Wild West, and Worlds Collide. Cool thing is there are 'vs Myth' and 'vs Same' versions of each of the plugs so you can play Marathon vs. Myth II units or Marathon vs. Marathon - etc.

there's a also a 'Anywhere Multiplayer' pack that has a dozen different unit conversion plugins that will replace units on netmaps.

About the dark side campaign, does it ring any bells? I just remembered you had a black textured jman on a few missions. So for instance in gonen bridge, instead of getting garrick, you had a myrkridia and this black tex dude. And the narrations where changed too. Thanks for the help so far, Im gouna finish my vanilla campaign and then try the order anywhere plugs.
EDIT: I'm thinking it might be Reversal, gonna try Reversal Reborn out and find out, I'll come back and nag you guys if it isnt;)

the only maps i have knowledge of that were made by sycorax or that he worked on are:

(unit) Bowman Captain
(tfl map) Oblivious Co-ops
(tfl map) Redemption On The Dire Marsh
(sb map) Ruins of Venice
(sb map) When Lemurs Attack

there are a lot of individual levels that have been converted to be player-is-dark or for more than one player dark-vs-light, but for dark Myth 2 campaigns i could only find:

Dark Campaign (murgen) 10 levels
Reversal (not sure if this is solo or just effects netmaps)
LvsD Light vs Dark Full Conversion (this removes the scripting so solo levels can be played by 2-3 players with one or more playing the 'dark' units)

There was also a TFL plugin called something like MythDark that I think converted the regular TFL solo campaign to be from the dark side's perspective.

Yeah I must have been confused with Sycorax name. Isnt it a shade's name? I think in this mod in gate of storms level you had a shade named sycorax instead of alric lol memory does funny things sometimes.
I checked reversal, and it's cool, but it's not the one. Im checking Light Vs Dark, but I think I played that, it was the solo maps one player with the light and another with the dark?
I just remembered the secret level after Tallow you had a giant myrkridia which threw exploding dwarves, which only appeared in that level. That's got to be a dead giveaway if someone played it. Sorry I'm so annoying with all this remembering but it was so long ago . But I'm pretty sure its not in the Tain.

fyi, the map info i cited i found at http://mything.org/maps -- and sycorax could be the author of the map/campaign your are remembering, there are lots of maps that the author info has been lost on or that i just don't have, i was justing saying the 5 i listed are the only ones _I_ know about - but my knowledge is far from complete - or necessarily accurate.

The plugin you are referring to is Myth II: Broken Cycle. It has the black jman and other edited unit.

I DO highly suggest playing Reversal Reborn, made by yours truly. It's a complete and thorough Dark Vs Light plug, and one I think you will really enjoy.

Yea Im downloaded your as well during my quest to obtain broken cycle. I tried it and it looks great. But I get obssesed over things and I had fond memories of broken cycle I'll play them both!
