Myth ii and nvidia geforce - Geiforce cards
Hello,
I wanted to post here to see if there were any known issues with Myth II and Geforce cards. I Have a Geforce4 MMX 440 card with 64 meg of Memory, and for some reason Myth doesnt even recognize an option for OpenGL which is what Myth should run in in the first place. I can run in 3D but it gives me horrid graphic lag. So it kinda sucks to have a better card and still be stuck in software mode. (My old voodoo 3 worked just fine) Is this something that someone else has had problems with or am I just not doing something right? I have tested the GL support for the card and the card works with most GL test programs, but I can't get Myth to give me a GL option.
Help Please,
St. Joan
P.S. Software Mode realy sucks

direct 3d is terrible....this is a new computer so basicly when I installed myth on it I pretty much started with 1.5. So the answer is that I was still using the old voodoo card under 1.4 which suppored glide I guess. The direct 3d causes horrid graphic lag. Typical stuff like on maps with lots of water..Koth lag is bad ect. So due to this I just went with software mode. So I guess theres no real way to get my hardware to work in myth then.. thats a real bummer

Thanks for all your help. I haven't realy messed with this any, but I have a feeling that its pretty much not something that's going to be solved easily. I realy hate this GeForce card. With 64 meg of memory it should easily blow my old voodoo out of the water, but simply put it sucks. I am toying with the idea of putting my old voodoo in this machine, but then again, I don't think that the voodoo could handle other games as well. NWN and Dungeon Seige both have pretty heavy graphic requirements, and we have a copy of Halo for PC I wanted to install on here. With that in mind I am toying with concept of just getting a new card all together. Problem is a new card might have the same problems with Myth as this one does. Myth II is my favorite game of all time, and the one game that has yet to loose my attention. Are there any new cards that support Glide? If it were you...What kinda card would you get?

that's a tough question to answer. There's no modern cards that support Glide unfortunately _although_ you could try your luck using the glide wrapper (http://openglide.sourceforge.net) if you were feeling adventurous. It translates glide API calls to OpenGL.
Otherwise, the lag is something that occurs one some machines and not others for no real reason that we can determine. My windows box has a geforce 3 card and no lag at all.
Btw out of curiousity, did you experience lag under 1.4/1.4.x at all?

Oh I forgot. Iron I never had ANY lag problems with my old Voodoo Card which was what I was running on my old machine (versions 1.4 - 1.4.4) However I was never running in direct 3d either. The old card supported glide. I always had the option for the direct 3d just never ran it, because the glide looked better. Ive always been able to host for 16 and run myth with almost no lag at all unless it was another hosts prob not mine. I did notice however when hosting with 3D that whatever graphic lag I was having trickled down to players in my host, which was yet another reason to go with software mode. Hope that helps.
