Someone recently mentioned the "Top ___" lists from The Mill and I stumbled across snapshots I made of all the Top 50 lists on The Mill way back in 2002 (the afternoon of March 24 to be precise).

Thought you might find them interesting (note they are PDF files):

Nice one Baak.

I remeber that during years of highschool i didnt have net connection in tha house so Ive used to download plugs from Mill in school then I used win-commander to split em on 20 parts, wrote them on old 3,5" disks to take em home and make whole again heh.

Ha!
Old Mill screenies..... I have a swag of these, somewhere on a DVD. Most of them related to my own uploads, and reviews that Beer Can wrote on our stuff. There were a few choice snapshots from the forums, and a thread I started once while asking if Wod'Asini's Watcher would ever be shared.

I also got a pretty peeved news update where Clem got angry about people writing reviews of their own plugins (Cid or myself accidentally rated our own multiplayer map......) and the 'bye bye' news update from shortly before the place went down.

Man, whatever happened to some of these characters?

I remember that Beer Can fellow all of a sudden started rating everything in sight.- Didn't he get some sort of distinction on the Mill as "official map critic" or something? haha

And I can only wonder where Clem is patting himself on the back now.

beer can was awesome though
for any mapmaker that somebody takes the time to play one's map and even send feedback and write it, it's heaven...

I loved Beer Can's reviews. They were very even-handed; when I uploaded something bad, he'd say so!

I did get a message from him sometime after the Mill went down, which was nice.

Totally agreed- much appreciation for beer can's efforts- and as william said, his reviews were always level-headed.

Makes me think I should review way some more stuff on here

Definitely. There aren't very many reviews on the Tain.

For real mapmaker nostalgia, see this:-

It has my first ever post on a myth mapmaking forum :) And just look at the people posting there... Its kinda weird looking at it now. Like seeing an Iron Council train enclosed by a time golem.

see that ad in the upper right of the page - for the Myth Handbook? It was $19.95 way back in 2000 - I'll sell you an autographed copy (by DeathWhore) for half that. (plus actual shipping$)

seriously. I think I bought the last of DW's private stock a few years ago. I've still got a bunch in a box. (No CDs though)

obviously my plan to get rich selling rare autographed copies of the Myth II handbook when Myth II inevitably swung back into fashion should have been given a little more thought....

Thank you for your post.
Can someone put together the top 50 in the downloads section? I know me personally, coming back after so many years as a backslid Myther I would have appreciated the direction of a section put together like so. I would have just dl'd all top 50 and went to work playing all of the time. Please, change the downloads section to do that, how does that sound? :D
For example, I'm in need of the top 50 solo maps so I can get busy.
Have a great day.
