To anyone with the M1/M2/M3 soundtracks

Post by GodzFire »

I was wondering if anyone here still has access to any of the 3 original soundtrack CDs? If so, would it be possible to get some fresh new 320kbps rips directly from the CDs? I would really appreciate it.

I've always used iTunes to do my ripping. In the preferences just make sure to set it to mp3: 320 constant bit rate (uncheck the VBR option), Auto sample rate, Channels - Stereo, Stereo Mode - Joint Stereo, and make sure Smart Encoding Adjustments and Filter Frequencies are unchecked.

Alternatively, if you don't mind uploading a large size, you could just create a zip of the entire CD, upload that to uDogs, and I could encode them from the uncompressed files.

Mp3 isn't a very good lossy sound format. Ogg is much better even if not as widely used. The main advantage is you can't hear the compression artefacts like with Mp3.

For lossless audio, you can use FLAC. 7-zip should give you smaller archives than zip for compressing .wavs.

In what format? I think udogs is where I downloaded them from and I've only got them as 96kbps mp3.

AAC is quite a good format too if you can't convert to OGG.

they used to all be at myth2br.com. not anymore.

Fileplanet allegedly has the M3 soundtrack, but you need a subscription to dl it.

perhaps a link would be more helpful. if they are on udogs, they are at least not where one might expect them to be. ( ex. /Gaming/ Myth Series/Myth I - The Fallen Lords/Multimedia)

Look there might be rips of the soundtracks already out, but my goal is for brand new, directly fresh from the CD rips, to eliminate any chance of things being re-encoded beforehand to a higher bitrate.

No.

If you post a link I will be sad. If you keep talking about them being on udogs, I will be sad.

I still have the original Myth: TFL Soundtrack CD from when I received it to review "back in the day". If you still want rips, LMK and we'll work something out.
