Myth II 1.7.1 Final

Myth II 1.7.1 Final is now available:

NOTE: If you downloaded Myth II 1.7.1 before 2 PM EST - Sunday Feb 21 - you must re-download it. We fixed a serious bug that was found shortly after the original release (which was there in both public betas, but apparently not enough people tested them).

To tell if you are using the correct version of Myth II 1.7.1 - the main menu screen should say "Build 356". If it doesn't please re-download, and re-install.


Myth II Version 1.7.1 is a bug fix update to Myth II 1.7, containing over 100 individual fixes and improvements.

A few examples of things that were fixed in 1.7.1:
  • Sounds occasionally playing at maximum volume when they shouldn't.
  • Units getting permanently stuck in a clump.
  • The 'Heron Turn' bug, where a Heron would bizarrely turn 90° before healing.
  • Erroneous endgame scoring, famously seen at MWC '09.
  • Netgame crashes when starting a coop with over 102 veterans.
  • A glitch that could cause the last level to become impossible to win.
  • Several serious issues fixed on Windows Vista / Windows 7.
  • A few causes of reduced OpenGL performance.
  • Various small issues with the interface and 3rd party interfaces.
  • Incorrect zoom levels on widescreen monitors.

A note to those using custom interfaces: You may notice that the progress bar color has changed. Custom interfaces will need to be updated to take advantage of the new interface-related features in 1.7.1 - including specifying the progress bar color.

awesome... thanks guys! been waiting for the heron turn bug to be fixed for a long long time! :) keep up the good work

and Carlinho... any word on when you are gonna publicly release your Thermopylae plugin? the vid you put on up youtube looks amazing.

5.3 b) All: Fixed the bug that would sometimes cause certain
game sounds to get delayed.

hello, i didnt look nor find a bug report thread so ill just post here. i installed 1.7.1 final and hosted a gimble assassin game alone to test some graph settings. in game i noticed that none of my units took any damage at all. it didnt happen again when i tried it.

This is a serious bug, so we are halting the 1.7.1 release until we have a fix. If you have downloaded 1.7.1 already, you will need to re-download it once the fixed version is up.

This bug has been present in both public betas of 1.7.1, but no one found it.

Okay, we fixed the issue and updated the downloads. Please re-download if you downloaded before Sunday (Feb 21) 2PM EST (you can check that you have the right version if it says Build 356 on the main menu screen).

I posted about a sound/message bug in the 1.7.1 beta. I cant find the thread anymore but you probably might remember it. Now for the bad news: It seems as if this bug is not really gone in the 356 Build. I have experienced at least two times a totally delayed "New Units Received!" sound (but without the text message). I had no time to take a closer look at that, I just wanted to inform you.

That's unfortunate. Perhaps there is more than one cause of this issue.

mmm I experienced some sounds disappearing as well, and sounding after a while too...

wanted to report a bug, thought this was the place

if windows magnifier goes on (windows + or -) then the cursor disappears completely, even at regular zoom level.

not sure if this is soemthing you can fix, but it cost me a game!
