How can I speed up the Rendering time in 3D Studio Max 8 or 9? I'm making an animation in 3D Studio Max 8. How can I get this 12 second animation to render well in a shorter time period? (Can take up to 6 hours)

I'm not a 3d studio pro but here are some reasons it could be very long

Modelling reasons :
The number of polygons : keep it below 50 000...
How big are the textures ?

Rendering :
Do you have some special shadow/reflection settings? Myabe reducing reflections would speed it up
Any light effects are very long to render, this include caustic, HDR etc
Post process rendering which includes stuff like Hair, Blurring, Depth of field...

Final reason, what kind of computer are you using ? Dual core computer render twice as fast as single cores because each core renders half the image!
Make sure you have a lot of memory (more than 1 or 2bgb)
