Hey guys. I haven't played Myth 2 for about two years now. I just installed it from an old disc image and updated it to 1.5.1c 261. I am experiencing a problem with myth chrashing a lot when I load. When it happens in multi player games I get kicked to post game or desktop just as it finnishes loading. In single player games I get kicked to the Myth main menu. I have tried reinstalling myth several times and updating everything, even on different hard drives.

I am running Mac OS X 10.3.9.

This is an example of what the myth log says:

2006-05-30 18:26:53
Myth II Build 261 running under Mac OS 1039 ----------------------------------------------

Error: File system Create in tag_files.c, line #2733: couldn't create local tag file ':preferences:progress'
Error: File system Create in preferences.c, line #173: couldn't write progress preferences
Closing Myth.

Sometimes it says error in the file preferences:sound also.

Could someone please help advise me on how to get rid of these chrases all the time? :-)

Maybe the 1.5.2 beta will help?

Sounds like the security settings got out of wack on your prefs folder. Delete the folder and try again.

Ok, I've tried updating to 1.5.2 and deleting the preferences folder. Myth II still chrases about every third time I load a map, which is the same as it did before I tried these things. :-(

Thanks for the help though. Any other suggestions? I also tried making a new user on my OS and install Myth on that, but it didnt solve the problem.

Perhaps a certain rendering option that is giving you these problems. Do you have 3D sound on? I forget if on PCers get a problem with that one.

I tried installing the small install instead of large, and now for some reason I don't crash on the standard Bungie maps anymore. I still chrash the same way for plugins though.

How much free hard drive space do you have?

More than 15 gigabyte on both harddrives.

I tried playing some plugins today. This is what the log looks like when I crash:

Like CIK said it looks like a security issue. As if you don't have permission to edit the preferences folder.

Click on it and Command-I.

Down towards the bottom it says ownership and permissions. What does it say you can do?

I tried clicking "apply to enclosed items". It didn't solve the problems :-( Thanks for the help though. I also tried to delete the preferences folder earlier, but that didnt help.

Why does standard Bungie maps work, but not plugins?? I just don't get it...
