Mac OSX Mappmaking Software Technical Help:

Post by Rtsboy »

I just downloaded the 1.51 patch the other day to my Mac and the actual game runs fine, but the Mapmaking software does not work. My Mac is 10.4.7. Fear still has the little circle with a line thru it telling me that I can't use it. Loathing will start up but whenever I click the create new map, and then the add color map, the application pauses and then exits without any kind of message. Then if I open the map I created it shows a black mesh, and if I try to import the color map again it exits in the same way.

I do not know if this is regular for the 1.51 update or not so I figured I'd ask. If it is regular will downloading the 6.1 installer/updater work? Or it could be the fact that my photoshop only creates files with 256 colors, and loathing requires maps with 240...Or it could be that the updates don't work with my newish mac. Whatever advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Oh, and this is for Myth 2

If you're running an Intel Mac, the circle with the line through it means it's a Classic application - which means you're using the wrong version of Fear.

Just download the Myth II 1.6 (Mac OS X) on the Tain and it'll have the right versions you need.
The cake is a lie.

Ok thanks, I'm glad it will be that simple...

except that my download speed is 2.5 kb/s  Took me 2:30 to download 1.51...Yay, that means I get to stay on the computer all night...again... :D

When you change your colormap to indexed mode, you should be able to set Palette: Local (Selective) and then you can set number of colors.
