Amber?

Post by Arthim »

I am an aspireing mapmaker (aka a noob) and have a couple of questions.

First, do you have to use a collection editor to make overhead maps?

Second, I have windows vista, is there a collection editor that works for windows?

As stated by carl, Oak is coming. But meanwhile if you really want to mess with collection editting you can try to run SheepShaver. It emulates classic Mac OS. I don't know if it can work with Vista. I have XP and I know it works with that.

As for overhead maps. You don't need a collection editor... I think Jade does that? I forget. I sometimes just open Tahoe a Windows based collection editor that doesn't have as much features as Amber to open an existing overhead map collection and replace it with one of my choosing and save as a different collection. Jade is a program that can make a collection out of an overhead map I believe... its been a while since I've used it.

Good news, finally an equivalent of Amber for Windows, I hope this Oak will be as resourceful just as Amber is! Where can I know more about this Oak, and where can I obtain Jade?

For Oak, just wait. There will be an announcement sometime soon.

All right, a little patience in this case will be the only medicine... And where can I get the program Jade?

Ah, I've got the program, now with some brain-cracking I'll learn to use it very well. I'll thank both Myrd and Pyro for sending me the URL to get Jade.
