OK, been away from Myth for about two years and now I'm looking to get back into the game. Pleasantly surprised that it's still around. I've visited PlayMyth.org and Marius.Net, I've also found two maps archives (but the Tain isn't open yet), but now I'm looking for "real" tips:

What has the Clan Plaid standard (aka the "necessary" plugins) evolved into?

I used to really enjoy the big team maps. Any suggestions? The tiny Dogs (µDogs) used to be a good group to play the big team maps with, are they still around? If not, is there another group that's filled the void?

Ah, that's all that came to mind, but I'm sure I'll have some more questions.

Hello Ray,

Welcome back to Myth :)

The µDogs are still around, although, mostly inactive these days. The ones who ARE active, tend to be more active as members of magma than as members of uDogs (like myself for instance).

If you're looking for a place to download maps or just shoot the shit with other mythers, you should stop by our hotline server ( hl.projectmagma.net ). If you don't have a hotline client, you can find one here.

By the way, did you go by any other names back in the day? Your name doesn't seem too familiar to me.

Hope to see you soon,
Doobie

I went by "El Ray"* in TFL and Myth II. My team name was usually "Therapeutic Tyranny". I did most of my playing when the µDogs were a pretty new semi-offshoot of ~PoOp~. The regulars I remember are ChrisP, Roshambo, Snake-Eyes, Your Kids, Nae'blis, Father Merrin, Ned the Wine-o, SnowWight, WhiteRhino and a second _Eyes_ or Your_, but I'm not totally sure. I stopped playing about the time I moved and lost my DSL (around June 2002).

*A few people caught the Spanglish pun. One guy (I don't think it was a µDog, IIRC a ~PoOp~) kept referring to me as "El Guapo" (from The Three Amigos).

Oh, I did play under one other name. When the demos came out, I played under "Ima Demo Weenie".

Hi Ray,

I vaguely remember you, but it has been a long while. I can date your list of players at 5 to 5 and half years old.

I still play here and there. Maybe I'll catch you on Marius net tomorrow night, though I won't be able to play for too long or too late.

Roshambo stopped playing a few years ago. He used to stay in touch, but we haven't heard from him in some time.

Same for Snake-Eyes and Your Kids, though they stopped playing or staying touch even before Rosh.

Nae'blis started playing again after a long break, and even did a little programming for Myth II 1.5, but I haven't seen him in the last month or two.

Father Merrin stays in touch and will play a rare game of Myth when he's not too involvd with some RPG or MMPORG game.

I lost touch with Ned the Wine-o long ago, which bums me out as he was actually my room mate when I started playing Myth.

SnowWight changed his name to Oroboros about five years ago. He continued playing for some years, and though he stays in touch, he rarely to never plays anymore.

White Rhino moved on to FPS games long ago. The last time he stopped by to play a game of Myth was about a year ago.

The only other "Your" or "Eye" names I can recall are Your Mom, who founded PoOp, and One-Eyed Cat, who joined our group a bit later. Neither of them are around anymore either.

Anyhow, Play Myth is where you'll find most games. However, recently on Thursday nights, a bunch of old-school TFL players from Clan Plaid, uDog, FoG, Tank Clan and PoRN started playing big games of vTFL Myth II on Marius net again. Come check it out.

I'm hoping I'll be able to get on, because I haven't gotten my Marius login yet. I can tell you this: I'm going suck big time. I started the single player levels last night, and on Normal, I lost my Dorf (during the first skirmish), 1 (out of 4) Archers and 4 (out of 8) Warriors on the first level.

Perhaps you should stop playing the game at 16x speed, and how off how 1337 you are.

Missed you last night, E1Ray. Next time mb. And you must not remember uDog games very well if you think sucking or not sucking ever interfered in the fun.

Didn't make it either. Life has a way of interfering with my plans. Re: succking vs. not, I was just warning everybody not to give me any Dorfs or Archers yet. ;)
