model and dtex resolution.

a long long time ago in a myth engine 256x256 was the largest texture size for models... 512x512 works now though is that because of 1.8 or just because video cards are better? would 512x512 model textures crash some computers? would 512x512 detail textures (oak) crash some computers?
Image (note for that building 256 work fine since one panel is 256 and the other is 512 and not much visual difference...
if one does not learn from the failings of the past they are likely to suffer its return.

512x512 should be fine on any video card from the last 15 years.

On cards that do not support textures above 256x256, it probably won't crash, but instead the model will show up as being all white or all black.

well that's cool 512x512 textures sure could dress up the place ;)
