Myth Tag Names - group and subgroup namespaces same?

So,

This is a question about the Myth tag names. Not their text names per se but their 4 character ids. Everything in Myth seems to have a 4 character id. If you open "Get Info" on a tag with Fear you'll find a "group" 4 character id and a "subgroup" 4 character id.

My question is:
Are these name spaces independent or one big space? That is can I have a ambient sound (amso) with a subgroup id of ambo and also have a monster (mons) with a subgroup id of ambo?

The unique name is really a combination of both group and subgroup IDs. So yes, you can have both a sound ambo and a monster ambo.
