Any idea he he made any of the models for it?
Not a chance.
He got distracted while working on the mesh itself.

I think this is a bump but if this isn't dead i can extract models, textures and sounds from Halo 1 if you want it. also some of halo 2 models but no sounds or textures.

Well I have a getto version of chief and some halo weapons... never played the game myself but animating and rendering the unit should be fairly simple.
Theres a better model of a halo unit out there and Ill see if I can get it (its $30 at a site) and if no ones rendering it I could.
Does anyone have any other models such as the vehicle?

All the halo assets are available in 3dsmax format, exportable directly from Halo 1 PC. No need to drop monies to a website.
There is currently a remake of this project in the works, including a full array of vehicles, weapons, and characters.
Keep eyes and ears peeled, and you may someday catch wind of Beta sessions going down. In all likelihood the main bulk of this plugin will not see release until after Myth 2 v1.8.

If another group wants to go and duplicate all the work we've already accomplished, by all means go for it.
Lol.

No more illegal than the Halo UT mod, I'd imagine. I haven't heard any complaints about that one.

As long as you aren't selliong it's not illegal to create art based on copyrighted/trademarked (I always forget the distinction) intellectual property (which you could argue a mod is 'interactive art') and as long as you don't CALL it Halo or use trademarks of the game in the documentation there isn't a lot of legal ground to stand on and make an objection from. where Bungie/MS could object and have more legal grounds for objecting is IF the mod is made with material extracted from a Halo game. e.g. the content of Halo is no doubt copyrighted by Bungis/MS (including the models and textures) and if they haven't explicity given permission for you to reuse the 3D content, then could probably make a case.

Microsoft/Bungie actually has the 'what you're allowed to do with our assets' page.

good link.
looks like my warning about potential problems using the models extracted from Halo would be covered by this clause:
"You can’t reverse engineer our games to access the assets or otherwise do things that the games don’t normally permit in order to create your Items."

It would be even cooler to just be able to play Halo on a Mac.
