I'm doing a horse unit with bow.
Now, when let's say you press the special ability attack, it would be cool this horseman gets down from the horse and continues on foot.
Same thing, when this unit gets close to a horse, he can pick up the horse as an artifact and continue on horse back.
Can the horse be treated as a projectile-artifact?
is there a function in projectiles where you can give the horse a sequence animation on ground so it doesn't look stiff?
let's say a 2/3 frame animation where he moves his head, etc....

thanks!

i see no reason why this shouldn't be possible.

you'll have to make sure that the horse projectile doesn't become dormant at rest, and you may have to do something so that things don't look really weird if something hits the projectile and makes it "slide" along the mesh in some strange direction (if it's possible to test for damage to a projectile, if the projectile isn't destroyed outright (in which case it can detonate into horse pieces) it might be turned into a horse unit that runs away).

uhh that would be cool...
I'll do some testing with it.
I'm trying to see if I can do this unit that uses multiple weapons, right now it attacks with dagger as default and can pick up spear and bow and it would be nice if it can ride on horse back too...and fire arrows or attack with the spear...

I'm pretty sure the Bushido campaign was based around a guy that did stuff like that. He wasn't mounted, but he could change up to 3 weapons or something, and it was reliable too.

true, but it required scripting and would deselect the unit and remove him from presets whenever he switched types. it was very nifty for the time (and still is). but we can now do it with all the positive factors (and a few more) without the negatives.

well I have already the unit that comes default with dagger and can pick up bow and fires arrows and can pick spear and fight with spear, but it would be great if it can pick up a horse and fight mounted...
the only problem I see is I would need all sprites in same amber collection and that would make the collection so big it won't work.
right now it is almost at the limit and doesn't have the horse yet....
still I want to try to make a horse as projectile to see if it's possible...
it would be fun...

mounted unit dont work really well in myth. The reason is simply because long units tend to glitch inside the mesh(ww2 tank is a good example). Also, when on a hill, sometimes not all legs will touch the ground and that looks silly :D

A mounted ostrich would look neat, though.

not really, I did a mounted trojan warrior that attacks with sword and they look pretty neat. You can see some stills here:

of course maybe there's a small glitch from time to time but it is still a great unit to have in a battlefield., they are quick and can be used to do rear attacks.
the problem of tanks more than glitching is that the treads don't animate therefore they look unreal...

the problem isn't so much tall units as wide or long units, really...

Indeed.

I've always seen horses as fine as long as their proportions are in order.

TSG Warg riders for example make great mounted units, Bushido Horse Archers are cool too.

As lank said it's the wide and long units like tanks that suck.

btw Carlinho "I hate you" (jk)

Your project looks so damn good :P

it's a shame I don't even have the time to finish my projects so I could help with the Egyptian warriors...
