Hey,
I noticed some time ago that you can choose an animation to be displayed as a unit's "headshot". Nothing special, but I also recognized that a seemingly random frame out of the animation is shown as a portrait for each unit if you do so. This means that you could create an animation with several different portraits of one unit type and select them as a "headshot"-tag. When the unit is created, one random portrait is picked and shown.
This is a possible way to bring a bit variety into the portrait gallery (I mean, not every warrior has the same face: :surprised: :nocomment: ) and wasnt realized yet I think. I also hope its true what I am telling you because I am not in possession of a mac and so can't test it out with amber.
If somebody is interested in this, he might try it out and post here if it works or not. And if it really works, I would like to see this in a future plugin!
