I am choosing software mode and am wondering if setting the properties of the Myth II executable on windows xp to 256 colors will make rendering faster.

I think software mode is already in 256 (8-bit) ?
Are you having performance problems?

I'm not sure where my problem lies. I am using wireless internet at a hotel. And I get freezes quite a bit. I had cable before and didn't have these problems.
I really think it is just that the connection here gets overused at times.

If you didn't have problems previously then I'd say your on track with the net being saturated. Cutting down your graphics isn't going to help that. In fact software mode is more CPU intensive then either Direct3D or OpenGL.

and besides that, myth requires at least 16 bit colour to run in either software or hardware mode.
