Hello,

Is there any option to play the Darkside in Myth TFL in a solo-game, without the multi-player option?
I've used the search, but it didn't the answer.

Thanks!
Mark.

I am unaware of anybody having made a plugin that allows you play as the dark in TFL's solo game. There are a couple of plugins for Myth II that do that though.

If you are looking for a new TFL solo-player-campaign challenge, try the Sir Mauriac's Tale plugin:

Just ask if you have any trouble with making it work.

Well, there's a plugin that let's you play as dark units in the solo maps, called Dark Campaign. But you don't control the dark units as seen in the original solo, instead you get new combination of units.

Here's the link:

I don't know if you are used to using plugins, but here's the procedure:

1.Make a folder called "Plugins" inside the "tags" folder of your Myth TFL install folder.
2. Extract the .gor file inside the .zip to the Plugins folder.
3. Create a multiplayer game (it can be TCP/IP) and search for the plugin in the options button.
4.Check the box for SinglePlayer levels.
5.Play and have fun.[/url]

Speaking of Mauriac's Tale, the thing that always bugged me was that you can only play it online as a coop. Is that true of all TFL coops?

(Abbie Hoffman mode on)

Pretty much every Dark campaign has sucked. Not for a lack of effort or creativity, but none of them tackled the idea of simply playing the campaign from the dark point of view - ya know, trying to kill Rurik, or whatever. Most Dark campaigns I've seen Cid play, were just cases of people changing the light units to dark units, vice versa, and altering the story.

Oh well!

Yes, that's true. Myth TFL doens't have support for playing plugins on single-player mode.
The interesting thing is that Mauriac's Tales has a .txt file with the intro text for the levels.

Yup, great material for pregame journals if some1 will decide to convert it for M2...

The only way to properly portray playing as the Dark in TFL or SB, would be via a scripted multiplayer, giving the Dark player units when it's appropriate (otherwise in say Willow Creek the Dark player would gather all the Ghasts in one place and just mob the tiny light player team - or would take all his Brigands and block the Gate on into the Breach, preventing the light player Duff Pathfinder getting through - the list goes on).

There is really no way you could get the Computer to play the light forces any better than it plays the Dark forces (there is no true dodging script, and the computer just isn't smart enough to try and save it's units).

Atm there is nothing like that, but Cam de Gray's light vs dark series is similar (yet without the script, and has numerous mesh changes to accommodate the Dark player).

The Dark Campaign was pretty fun and has an oldschool feel to it. Doesn't do what you'd ask for no, but I can't see anyone managing to pull it off well.

You don't need to be online. Just host a TCP/IP game and play it.
