I am glad I haven't upgraded to Vista yet. :) My guess is either one of two things will happen... 1) Vista gets a ton of updates that end up helping or 2) Magma makes a Vista compatible patch for Myth 2.

Uninstall Vista and get an actual good operating system like OSX, or Linux variety.

Thing is, only one of the devs has Vista & he (doobie) doesn't have any problems. That kinda makes it hard to do anything other than research via google looking for suggestions/tweaks that have helped the performance of other games.

So far, these include:-

1) make sure 3D sound is turned OFF in myth prefs.

2) turn VSync OFF in your video card settings

3) Try running Myth using the different compatibility modes Vista offers.

4) If you're on a dual core machine, try setting the affinity for Myth II.exe to a single processor in the Task Manager.

5) Try setting the Myth II.exe process priority to High (also in the Task Manager).

6) For NVidia cards, try getting the latest drivers & if that fails to improve things, try these older Vista drivers as I've read they perform a lot better. To be honest I feel its pretty likely that crappy NVidia drivers are the cause of the problems. Alternately you could always go get an ATI card.

7) Get more RAM. I've seen 2gb recommended as the minimum for smooth gaming in Vista. Seems ridiculous I know.

8) Audigy soundcards - I've read that the drivers for these can cause lag as well. If you have one, consider ripping it out and enabling the motherboard's onboard sound.

9) Install XP :)

If anyone has other suggestions I'd love to hear them. I have no idea if any of the above make any difference - some feedback would be nice. If someone who has problems under Vista finds a solution, please let us know so we can post it in a sticky thread here for everyone to see.

Actually, how about we sticky this thread anyway?

Damn. It really sucks to hear yourself die 3 minutes after you die. You have to live it over and over and over...

When will people realize this shit isn't tech support? It's like your doctor telling your impotent ass to get a sex change instead of popping a few Viagra. "Females don't have to get it up," he says. "Let me make you a vagina."

Maybe we just haven't got any Viagra

Seriously, Vista is not already very popular, so guys who could help you with other systems (there are some of them here) just can't do it wth Vista. I can't too :(

Well, it'd help if the ppl who've complained of the problem would try out the above suggestions and then post back here saying what the result was for each of them.

Atm we're just guessing, and that's all we can do without any feedback.
