Myth III?

I'm wrapping up my M1/M2 single player romp and wondering if I should continue with M3? I never got a chance to play it when it first came out but heard some bad things so I never got it when I was able to. Have the the problems present at it's original release been fixed? Is it worth playing through the single player campaign?

You would have to the judge of that. There is a patch for Myth 3 that fixes somethings. You could always buy Myth 3 from eBay or Amazon, it is only a few dollars. There are still some people who are willing to play it if enough interest is around.

Well, I think most of Myth players say that M3 is bad or if not, it's surely the worst part.

And now, IMO, maybe it's true, but it's still Myth and I think it's certainly worth playing. Especially when you can buy it at really little cost like Pyro wrote.

hmm, okay thanks. I'll probably just play it for the sake of completion.
Also are there any single player add-ons for M2 you would recommend?

If you like campaigns, try:

The Seventh God
Jinn
Sisters of the Blade
Bushido: Way of the Warrior
Havre River
Coming of the Dark

If you want single levels, try:

Morte Della Luna
Shattered Earth
Swamp of the Damned
Frenzy of the Damned
Dol Baran
The Woods Out Back
Scourge of Belial

Some of those can be found in the downloads section on this site. The rest are at either The Tain or the MythAddicts coops section.

In addition to Ared's excellent list (it included most of my faves) I also enjoyed:

The Year of Burning Stone (a mini campaign from a Jman's point of view)

Freedom (I forget whether I played Freedom I or Freedom II, but liked the one I played. It's not as polished as some of the other coops, but there's a lot of creativity and the levels have pretty varied missions. Some levels I got annoyed and and only tried once, some I replayed several times trying to beat them)

Also, one I enjoyed a lot is the Myth 2 Dark Campaign Solo - it's VERY old and is much more rough/unpolished than most other maps you'll find, but there are a lot of levels and I found many of them a lot of fun to play. But, if you are a stickler for Bungie-Badlands-Creation-quality maps you should probably skip this one.

The never-finished beta of "The Great War" has some really good levels too. Very hard to complete, but fun, and visually very polished.

-- one other Solo/Coop to consider - if you don't mind more modern warfare you might look to acquiring a copy of Myth 2: Green Berets (a commercial product) - it's an 18 or so level solo campaign that takes place during the Vietnam war. It was designed and created by several of the more noted Myth mapmakers and it's really well done campaign. I am not a big WWII/modern warfare fan, but other than the monotony of the same enemies on every level I liked this a lot.

Ooo thanks. Also when I do get back into multi will I need a lot of 3rd party maps? If so can you list some if it's not too much trouble?

edit: guess you posted at the same time i did tox...

Yea I was in the Army Infantry (warrior units woot). This is why I never got a chance to play m3 =P. I have been out for a few years now but will be going back in as a pilot in a few months.

I'm all setup for mariusnet but my play time is odd and haven't seen many people on when I have logged on. I'm still having a lot of fun single player too . :D

and yes I'm back in sacramento now.

you won't need all of these of course, but the link below is pretty comprehensive list of multiplayer maps.

If you could only dl one or want to dl them a few at at time, I would start by dl 'ing the Magma TFL Multipack, it contains Myth II versions of all the Myth TFL multiplayer maps so there's a LOT of maps in that mappack - and it's pretty common to see games hosted that use those maps.
