Not sure how I did it... (Graydon & ONYX guys, read this

Basically, I've been trying to make some custom interfaces lately. I'm going to trace my steps back to the best of my memory to the point of where I started. The reason I'm posting this is because I somehow got Graydon's PMnet account info (via prefs) to show up in the login box earlier today. Ack!

From beginning to end, to the best of my memory, here's how I did it. I dont know what is relative and what isnt, so I'm throwing out all the details I can remember...

1) Opened up tags/international small install with Amber
2) Extracted the PM lobby bitmap art from the 'internal metaserver graphics' tag
3) Made custom interface in PS, then 'replaced' the lobby bitmap in Amber (following the same step mentioned in step 1) and when prompted to save the new file in amber, I saved it outside of my myth2 folder.
4) I tried putting the newly made file somewhere (or importing it somehow, can't remember), then signed on PMnet to see if it worked. My new interface didn't show up, so I downloaded the TFV interface from TheTain because I wanted to try and open it up with a 3p app and see how it was made.
5) First I just installed the TFV interface and signed on as normal so I can see the differences.
6) I think what I did at this point was take the new file created in step3 (above), rename it 'metaserver' and put it in the preferences folder, which is in the TFV interface folder.
7) I tried logging on to pmnet with the TFV interface selected and nothing changed.
8.) I quit Myth2, without signing back on using a different interface (from the servers menu), then quit myth2, and then removed the TFV interface folder from metaservers folder (in the myth2 main directory).
9) Start up myth2 today, not remembering what I did yesterday, and sign on to pmnet, still not selecting a different option in the 'servers' menu. All games are red, and I get the 'game data does not match' error when trying to join a game.
10) I sign off, select the PlayMyth Classic option in the servers menu, then sign back on. Same problem.
11) I quit the Myth2 app, re-download the TFV interface, install it, fire myth back up, select the TFV interface in the 'servers' window, and I'm greeted with a login/password that isn't mine. I tried signing on and it worked. Sorry Graydon, was just curious. I sign off immediately, go to sign on again, only this time picking the PlayMyth Classic interface from the servers window, and change to my log/pw info. I sign back on and all is normal again, no red games or errors.

If you are trying to make your own custom interface and/or are sharing Myth2 files and/or projects with other users, be careful!

Heh, lets get gray banned!

Just a note: The metaserver-interface method used by the TFV Demo and PMnet is outdated. 1.6 introduced the interface switcher in the prefs, which works smoother, and eliminates the vast majority of the "game data does not match" errors that often accompany interface creation. It also makes interfaces "server generic." That and the one in the prefs overrides anything loaded by the metaserver.

Wow. That's super weird tox. Pretty fucking cool too i reckon... hahah.

I'm not sure if that's entirely true DA.... I've got all those PMnet interfaces I've made for TFV... and I swap them in and out fairly regularly without any problems on my end at all.

Why the thing managed to save my prefs.... is beyond me. That's super random. Password and all...

At least you only saw that it's 7 characters ;)

Meh. Happened to me all the time, Id have something in local and it would do "game data does not match". Really the interface swapper makes it so you dont have to mess with metaservers or anything, especially since the server swapper is clunky, imho (looks at Iron).

I wonder why the pass got saved though...where is that normally stored?
