THE CURRENT VERSION IS RELEASE CANDIDATE 8

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Myth 3 Interface for Myth 2 Release Candidate 1 is now available. Everything should be looked over and tested. I am hoping everyone can try this, and for those who have been holding off for a stable release, this is it.

Changes from Beta 11 to RC1:

- Completely re-done Plugins screen:
Image

- Color Table of Main Menu and buttons completely redone proper

- Main Menu buttons realigned to resemble M3

- M3 Win/Loss music removed (this will be taken care of by the M3 Port)

- Multiplayer Window Color Pickers now better centered and bars added

- The right scroll in Load Game now has Map Screenshot and Time Stamp separated (1.7.1)

- Progress Loading Bar now has colored map picture since M2's blue bar is hardcoded in

- Saved Film's Player List now has full black background when clicking and selecting a person

- No Blood Options window redone with proper font

- Join Game Failed window redone with proper font

- Scrollbar Slider square now has transparent middle

- Cancel Button for Attempting To Join Game window now properly placed

- All Unit Trading window sizes redone to correct the "Black Bar Void" issue

- All font colors have been adjusted to match M3's as well as possible given some of M2's hardcoded restrictions

- Many various minor position tweaks

EDIT: I should also say that you will need to wait until 1.7.1 is released for the Time Stamp in Load Game and Servers Button in Multiplay to be properly positioned. Myrd had to correct code in the program itself.

The Myth 3 Interface for Myth 2 Release Candidate 2 is available. Everything should be looked over and tested.

Changes from RC1:

- The New Game, Load Game, Saved Films, and Save Game window scrolls now have background transparency like they do in M3

- The title "Saved Games" has been added to the scrolls on Load Game and Save Game windows

- Save Game's text input box to name saves now looks the same as in M3

Films screen could have scrolls merged to look less cluttered.

Preferences screen - Behind the scrolling window for resolutions, there is a darker shade, while it's not the same for the difficulty menu or the rending mode menu. I would change this, to make them all match the resolution menu.

Overall it could be slightly darker, but that's really optional and minor.

Looking good though, almost there.

With the upcoming release of 1.7.2 slowly getting closer, I thought it best to go back and work on my M3 interface.

So after a good amount of work, here is Release Candidate 3

Changes:
- The Main Menu was COMPLETELY redone from scratch. It doesn't even use the old bitmaps anymore; I figured out how to recreate the font style/color/etc and was able to create new ones, which was needed since there was no tutorial menu for M3 and I had to previously create it from scratch.
- The 3D Sound Warning window for PCs now has properly positioned dialog elements
- The 3D Sound checkbox for PCs has been moved up with the rest of the Sound section and is not overlapping the Graphics title logo
- DirectInput checkbox name in Options for PCs now shows full name without truncating into ....
- Tabs were redone for proper active/inactive look
- Black input rectangles for Multiplayer and Other windows were removed and are now using M2's default black input boxes
- Name input in TCP/IP now shows the max # of letters without truncating into ....
- Name input in configure Multiplayer Game now shows the max # of letters without truncating into ....
- Lots of small tweaks and adjustments

I'd appreciate it if everyone could give it a good shakedown.

NOTE: There will be interface transparency issues with 1.7.1, so please test these on 1.7.2 builds.

wow, that's really slick looking. i just loaded it and poked around and opened a few screens so no extensive testing yet, but it's really looking good.

Release Candidate 4 is available.

Changes:
- Addition of M3 internal sounds for solo and netgame. This was a big one I can't believe I forgot.
- The black background overlay to make text easy to read now 'blends' into it's background scroll, making for a smoother looking transition
- New game and Load game scrolls have been increased to allow for larger names. Backgrounds were redone to be brighter and not so dark.
- Changed difficulty level names to match M3's and included substitutes for Simple & Heroic, which were not available in M3
- Saved Films window slightly tweaked
- Corrected issue of Main Menu 4 playing (there's no music for it)
- Corrected clipping issue of the tabs and Player List online

I don't plan on doing any other additions/changes unless it involves fixing problems in the present build. As such, I'd appreciate it if everyone could give it a good shakedown.

NOTE: There will be interface transparency issues with 1.7.1, so please test these on 1.7.2 builds.

If any of these are intended, then ignore.

-Activate a single player plugin that has a custom solo game image (like TSG). The image is not aligned.

-The metaserver prefs feature does not work. Perhaps the prefs button and tabs should be removed as they are useless.

-The player stats and find player windows have the left and right edges straight instead of that torn paper type edge as other windows use. Which makes them look out of place with the rest of the theme.

-The yellow text is a bit hard on the eyes on yellow background. Perhaps darken the background or add a sort of darken box like you did in prefs.

-The spacing between the checkboxes in the sound section of prefs is not equal. "Ambient Sounds" is closer to "In Game Subtitles" than "In Game Subtitles" is to "3D Sound".

-The medium and long buttons have the optical illusion of appearing to get slightly longer on their right side when clicked.

-Tabs look a bit pixelated and flat without having an alpha.

-The up/down scrollbar buttons do not get darker when there is no need for a scrollbar, or at least is too subtle to be noticable.

-The Gamma slider's boundaries are off. Compare with the values used in the interface patch included with 1.7.1.

-The postgame player list gets a bit cut off. I mentioned this in a different thread last year, nice to see you didn't notice. This issue was fixed for the default interface for 1.7.1.

-The user name, login, and order boundaries were expanded for the stats dialog for 1.7.1. Perhaps you should do the same.

-The new Windowed tri-state (3 way switch) button is hard to see with the background. It is a PC only button, and uses the old Windowed checkbox spot.

-The arrow button used in Missing Plugins window turns into a tri-state button when pressed. Possibly due to the fact that its collection is using the same color for the first 2 slots as well as a 3rd slot elsewhere in the color table, which can cause conflicts in collection tags.

-Load a solo game and look at the game pause options. When an option is dimmed when you are unable to use it, the button is not. Try re-saving that collection tag using the latest Oak, as this issue was something an older build of Oak caused.

-The Server and Autohost lists do not have a darken background as other lists do (like Interfaces and Rename Saved Films). [hint: Tell the devs.]

-Some transparency issues still remain. Load a solo game and press the pause button. Click on "Save Your Game" if you choose to save a game with the same as another the Replace window appears. Its edges are not transparent. Same thing for deleting a saved game when you go to "Load A Saved Game".

-Perhaps it should be "Load a Saved Game" instead. Same thing for "The" to "the" in one of the other paused game options. It is a grammar thing.

-You could replace the "internal single player pregame" with a M3 version.

-While not causing any issues, you could rename the "imm6" dialog tag back to its default name of "Internal Main Menu 640x480". If this interface is ever extracted on top of another interface or vice versa, different names for the same dialog tag will cause conflict.

-Again while not causing any issues, you could also rename the "internal multiplayer game" collection tag to "internal multiplayer game 2" as it is not the same collection tag as the original "internal multiplayer game".

Why can't you do more testing on your own before making a new build?

-Perhaps it should be "Load a Saved Game" instead. Same thing for "The" to "the" in one of the other paused game options. It is a grammar thing.

-TCP/IP's text shown under "Join by Address" area is cut off.

-The spacing between the Sound checkboxes in prefs is still off by a pixel. Move the 3D Sound up one.

-Tabs have no alphas which make their edges look pixelated instead of smooth, add default's alphas to fix.

-Game Options' Gametype list right side has a bit of space between it and its border.

-The "General" and "Level" text used on the tabs for game hints should be raised as they are a bit low.

-Stats top bar (for Points) is off on its top and 2nd bar (for Wins) is off on the left side. Compare all bars and look at the blue areas.

-Metaserver chat's top side is short of touching the border. Compare the scroll bar and the border and see the space between them.

-Metaserver player list's right side is shorter and only noticable when you select a player.

-Plugin text for warning/requirement messages has been removed. Why would you do that? Found in Select Plugins area above Filter when using Default interface.

-Right bottom corner of most buttons when pressed change more than the rest of the corners. Click on them to notice.

-Tri-state button for PC prefs should probably not have letters. Somewhere down the road there might be more of them.

-Why is red color not being used for unjoinable games and "Not Found" missing plugins text? It would just confuse people.

-Why is the Find Players window not as wide as the default? Intended?

-Full TFL warning's text and buttons are touching the borders. Might be hardcoded. [e.g. load Chimera solo with vTFL to see]

----------------------

Stuff to test on next 1.7.2 beta whenever it gets made:

-Server list background should be darken like others.

-Autohost list background should be darken like others.

-Activate a single player plugin that has a custom solo game image (like TSG). The image is not aligned.

-Some transparency issues still remain. Load a solo game and press the pause button. Click on "Save Your Game" if you choose to save a game with the same as another the Replace window appears. Its edges are not transparent. Same thing for deleting a saved game when you go to "Load A Saved Game".

I prefer the proper case
Tri-state button for PC prefs should probably not have letters. Somewhere down the road there might be more of them.
As M3 doesn't have a tristate button I had to come up with something and right now that's the best I can think of.
Right bottom corner of most buttons when pressed change more than the rest of the corners. Click on them to notice
I've tried many different ways of reducing their size from the original ones and messing with the corners even after. This is the best I can do.
Tabs have no alphas which make their edges look pixelated instead of smooth, add default's alphas to fix
I redid the tabs using the original higher quality tabs. This is now the best they are going to look.

I don't plan on doing any other additions/changes unless it involves fixing problems in the present build. As such, I'd appreciate it if everyone could give it a good shakedown.

NOTE: There will be interface transparency issues with 1.7.1, so please test these on 1.7.2 builds.

Release Candidate 8 is now available.

Changes include additions of the new resolutions and fixes for the MultiCore checkbox. With 1.7.2 now final, I'd like to get this out with a final release. As such, I'd appreciate it if everyone could give it a good shakedown. Please test anything and everything.
