Myth TFL - Resolution issues Vista 64bit

Hello all!

Thanks for having me here. A buddy of mine and I were talkin' about awesome games the other day and we both landed on Myth at some point during the conversation, so I decided to dust of the ol' beauty and give'er a whirl again. It's been so long, so many things have changed!

Well, hopefully my issues are simple to resolve. I have TFL installed with the 1.5 patch applied. In the TFL folder I actually have a myth_tfl.exe in the root directory, that when executed, runs the game fullscreen but in software rendering. If I go into the Myth_TFL folder there's another myth_tfl.exe and it runs the game in open gl (can't set it to direct 3d in the preferences for either, it's greyed out), and it's "fullscreen" but the actual game window is small 800x600 box in the middle of the screen.

I'd like to be able to run the game truly full screen with at least open gl. Any tips from anyone would be appreciated.

It's supposed to use your desktop resolution. Perhaps you have a compatibility mode set to 800x600 (you shouldn't need to set any compatibility mode settings)? Alternatively, there's a way to specify an alternate resolution via a text file for Myth TFL on Windows, which I forget the details of. Perhaps someone else will shed some light.

Yes, the second myth_tfl.exe uses open gl and indeed uses my desktop resolution, which it does in a "fullscreen" manner, but again, the actual game content is only a small portion of this in the middle of the screen (I'm estimating it to be about 800x600).

Thanks anyway, and yes, hopefully someone else will be able to shed some further light on the subject.

The main menu being small can't be avoided. In game it will be fullscreen. If it isn't working in game try changing your desktop's resolution. The 1024x768 res should work for sure. I'm not sure about higher resolutions.

Probably the reason TFL hasnt been updated again is because Myth 2 has a vTFL (virtual TFL) mode nowadays. It makes it play like TFL. Things like carpet bombing with a fetch/dwarf combo and other stuff like that. The vTFL mode can be used with The Fallen Levels and TFL Multiplayer Mappack plugins that have single and multiplayer maps from TFL. There is also a TFL Interface you can use on Myth 2 to make it look like TFL.

Well, I feel dumb, but thanks for not saying so. I just simply never went past the intro screen cause' i was so concerned about "fixing" this issue first. The in game graphics are as you said, and it works fine.

Thanks for the help.
