Thanks Mel!!!
this would have been impossible without Project magma

yep, I see what you mean, the worst thing about models is the 256x256 limit size on textures, which makes them not very high res at all.
you can pin-map sometimes the textures but unfortunately when you do models with too many faces/textures, it's really hard to make the textures look high res.

still, it's an amazing thing where the engine limits went...!
so there's really cool things that can be done!

uh no, Carl said it's a multiplayer map so no scripting is needed.

Learn to do script Ren, and we can have HD Myff (aka TWindA) much sooner.

during the time i was making my post carlinho then had posted his. so at the time i didnt know it was multiplayer. the reason carlinho is going with a multiplayer release is much the exact same reason our dev team did. No scripting needed for a multiplayer release!

JUST THINK WHAT COULD GET RELEASED WITH MORE SCRIPTING HELP FROM THE COMMUNITY!

There's actually no physical limit at all on model textures anymore.

The only limit would be total number of models x total number of huge textures, and how big your CPU/GFX card is.

In theory every face could have a 2560x2560 texture on it.

Definitely opens some options for pinmaps though. Use a 1024x1024 and you can get 4 512x512 unique images out of it.

graydon, we've already got plugin in development that only run on top of the line Mac machines, and those "only" have large sprite maps for scenery and units, you really needed to mention that there's no limit on model textures?

I declare a contest: First person to make a plugin so intense no one can play it has to go back to 'normal' myth and stop working on 'HD' stuff.

ps. Lately I've seen the wisdom of Magma's reluctance to increase in-game limits, and not raising them "just because we can".

wow , that's weird, I tried applying 512 x 512 textures to models and they appear all white with no textures at all....
is that something that you can change in oak after you created the model?
because meshworks only imports 256x textures, and as I said I tried changing it afterwards and it didn't work....

anyways...I'll try....again...hehehe

ZEPH!!! good heavens! I'll write you and Ozone on onyx!

the next loathing update youll be able to see the 512+ textures but for now you can only see them in myth. Also the textures max is 256 to import them with apathy then you can go in and change them to the 512 versions with oak...
do it.

People have been telling you, Godzfire, that you don't need to wait for updated builds of the tools. Use the latest. End of story.

In addition, you could always just edit the collection for the model, and make it larger there.
