I was on PlayMyth last night and encountered a few folks that wanted to play TFL because M2 "sucked" because of clumping, but didn't want to play M2 with vTFL turned on. Is there a noticeable difference? Other than playing on a machine that was new when TFL came out, I can't think of a reason to chose TFL over M2 + vTFL.

There are some differences such as the better Myth 2 graphics, additional Myth 2 features, vTFL Journeymen units using the same graphics as in standard Myth 2, and there are many TFL plugins not available for Myth 2.

vTFL in Myth 2 1.4 was a fairly accurate approximation of TFL, but there were some minor differences that turned off a few real purists.

vTFL in Myth 2 1.5, however, is basically the TFL program cut and pasted into Myth 2. Maybe, shomehow, there are some minute unit behavior differences, but the person who could truly find them and be bothered would be sore and unrested if you placed a pea under their matresses.

Psychology, therefore, is what creates the "difference". At a resolution higher than 640x480, suddenly TFL looks a little more like Myth 2, and I guess stuff like that is enough to convince most people that their gameplay experience is tainted.

On a related note: Tonight is Mnet Myth (vTFL) Monday!

But real TFL is da original fun stuff, if ya know wat im sayin(duffs in particular). I love the slow motion chunkage on tfl. Those thralls are packed with red paint and goodies, and it brings a smile to my face when the duff says "OH YA", which clearly states he shares my enjoyment of thrall carnage. Bouncing bottles are clearly a better choice.

Also, the souless and archers have something like a 65%-72% accuracy level, making it more realistic. Thats just a couple unit differences i like. :D

I dunno about that.

When I played TFL solo in 1997, my 8 archers had real trouble killing a lone fetch without getting zapped at least once, in vTFL they seem very slightly better

Maybe I'm weird, but I like being able to kill a lone fetch without getting zapped.

i usually send a lone zerk to distract the fetch, giving my arcs more time.

Who cares what we prefer in the game, acuracy or no acuracy? vTFL is meant to have the annoying crappy archers because it is virtual TFL and it is NOT the way you necessarily want Myth to be. Go play Myth II.

I think that souless don't seem very different from their TFL counterparts but are a bit more accurate.

The most important difference is the jouneyman. Can anyone else remember the pain and horror you had to go through to get the Jmen to walk in a strait line towards the person they are healing? vTFL Jmen are too smart for their own good. Bring back the TFL retard Jmen who don't have a clue what they're doing. :D
