Myth 2 co-op questions

I'm new to Myth 2 so please forgive my ignorance. I tried playing co-op with a friend recently and ran in to some problems.

Firstly we can't play co-op beyond the first level. Upon completion the next level doesn't become available. Is this because the game requires you to have finished the levels in single player? If so is there a workaround to unlock all the levels without playing single player?

The other question I have is; does unit veteran status carry over to the next missions in co-op? If not by default then is there a workaround?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide on this matter.

If you are talking about playing willow creek, and you beat it, you should automatically move on to the next level. If you want to unlock all of the single player games, hold shift when you click on new game on the main menu screen, or when you click the box to select single player maps when playing online. this unlocks the levels for you to see, but until you complete it, it won't stay in your inventory. yes veteran status will carry over always when you play it by yourself, unless your vets die in that mission. online however, the vets will stay with you until a new person joins the game, then they erase.

You don't have to complete a level for it to appear on the list. You just need to load it at least once for it to remain on the list without having to use shift clicking on the checkbox. Either that or beat the level before it for it to appear on the list.

As for veterans, for coop you will need to use the "Allow Veteran Units" to keep them. In the old days, vets in coop would get lost if someone new entered the game. This was fixed since the 1.7.0 update. Now they remain even if new players join.

Thanks for your help guys. Using the shift + new game trick we can now choose the levels in co-op. The problem where we don't/can't move on to the next mission remains. Upon completion of a map in co-op it doesn't automatically take us to the next map. The only options available are restart mission or leave game. Leave game returns us to the main menu.

Is there something we are missing or is it just not possible to continue co-op campaign without starting each mission from scratch?

What version are you on? This should not be happening. The version is shown at the top left corner of the main menu.

We are using 1.7.1 build 356. Which version should I be using?

What should happen is that when you finish the level it takes you back to the scores screen. If you then press 'restart game' it takes you back to the screen where you start games from, and automatically loads the next map so all you have to do is have everyone press 'ready' and then start the game.

It does NOT just automatically take you into the next level. You have to go through the multiplayer game screens first. It still saves your vets through the process, though.

If this is not what is happening, something is definitely wrong.

I've got a hunch Shifter is playing his coop in a TCP IP game with his friend, not on Mnet. That's the only way you'd get dumped back to the main menu, otherwise the game would dump to Mnet lobby.

Shifter: Visit mariusnet.com and sign yourself up an account. Have your buddy do the same. Then when you go to play a multiplayer game, you can log on using the account information registered on the website to connect to the MariusNet game server to play your games online. :)

Well of course it is TCP. But I guess it might be possible that he isn't clicking Restart Game which would take him back to the game lobby where the next map would be shown.

Or he is using Windows Vista or Windows 7. In which the game is not probably modifying the preference file for game progress. Which would be easily fixable on his side if this is the case.

Ok the problem was we weren't choosing to restart game. Reason being, we mistakenly believed that would restart the mission. Now that we know everything works perfectly. Thanks a lot to all who offered help.
