An open letter to Jon God

Dear Jonathan,
I apologize for posting your precious textures link on a public website. I also apologize for further promoting it to many of the active players. Perhaps it would have been better that no one had leaked it at all so I could still be looking at the same boring color maps instead of appreciating the hard work you put into, but to that idea I must say, 'No sir, thank you'.
Perhaps if you are getting discouraged because people are enjoying your work, then you are really not enjoying your work at all. Perhaps it is a sign that you are discouraged from completing the project in the first place, because where is this game really going to go? Those textures make this game fresh and new again, they are probably one of its only hopes to 'go' anywhere.
Taking pride in things is a horrible way to live life, but I am hoping that you realize I do not take 'pride' in 'finding' your textures and wish for you to not find the attention I have garnished for them discouraging from completing your work and instead find it even more encouraging to complete.
In conclusion, I apologize for promoting your beta work before it was completed, but I will not apologize for showing my appreciation for the work you have done by sharing it with others.

Sincerely,
Robert J. Parish

It's not that I don't enjoy detail texturing maps; I love to do it, in fact. (This doesn't mean you can ask me to dtex every map ever, There are only so many hours in a day.

I just posted it in a private forum so I could get some feedback on the quality of the detail maps, (what textures work, what don't?) and I plan on releasing a much more finished version with a lot more content, which I've been working on for some time.

Thing is, if everyone has an unfinished version of my textures already, and no one is giving feedback, it makes it hard to feel as excited to do work if there is that much less of a chance of people downloading it, since they would alright have an older version, and the majority of people don't take the time to update, if what they have already works, and nothing is forcing them to update.

I know that people were going to get ahold of it from friends, and/or testers, leaks are inevitable, that sorta things happens. I am just asking people to not share it publicly until the final is out. I know it's been a while, and I know people are impatient, but it will be worth it, mark my words, if you enjoyed that beta, you will fully enjoy the final.

Really, don't worry, I'm not angry at you, I am just asking you to share it more discreetly if you must share it at all, and if you can wait, it will be all the better for everyone.

I'm Jon God, and I approve this message.

I want to respond to this, but since it has nothing to do with me I'll keep myself from doing so and let jon god handle it himself, this forum has a private message function though... just saying...
