Does this look interesting to anyone else?

I wonder if they'll get the funding they need.

the early demos look very myth-like. The latest one didn't have any close-ups so made the game look more like a "typical" 3/4 top-down strategy game then a zoom and pan myth like game. i only watched a couple but didn't see any of the unit fighting, it was all mechanized vehicle fighting.
they definitely know what they are doing though, even though i am not much of a WWII era gameplayer (death finds me too fast when it arrives by speeding bullet or artillery shell), I would try the demo.

They seem to be very far away from their goal and only have 11 days left. Does not seem like they will reach it at least this time around.

Yeah actually I was going to mention that Company of Heroes is still the closest to Myth gameplay/micro that I've found. It's still fairly different, but it at least is similar in terms of focus.

Looks interesting, but that is not "near" Myth at all. That game is a first person shooter where you only control the one character you are. Games like Myth would be the type where you control various units.

Pyro,
Yep, well in truth I wanted to tell, imagine you can control a unit on myth first person? be a dwarf or switching to a Berserk, or Warrior, or archer and so on.

Yes, Dungeon Keeper style
It was ugly then and it would be ugly now.

myth's goal was never to be a FPS kind of game. that's why it was so great, it was different than all the other combat/warfare games. i don't understand how people can say 'wouldn't it be so great if we could completely change the gameplay and everything we liked about this game and made a completely different style game with myth units?".
such a game might be great. but it would be a different game. and it's greatness wouldn't be just because it had 'myth units' (are they really that unique and awesome?) it would be because the game was great on it's own.
for evidence to support my case, I give you Myth 3. Same Myth units. Even the same style of gameplay. Not a great game.
ps. I am not a Myth3 hater, it had a lot of potential and if the developers had been allowed to finish the game and had a budget to actually test the game I think it could have been a very good game.

Myth wasn't great because it wasn't an FPS. It was great because it had something we all liked. We all have different reasons for liking Myth. The reasons vary from things like storyline, gore, no resources needed, the paper-rock-scissor type gameplay, etc.
As for why some could make "this is great but what if" type comments, they likely want a new way to enjoy some parts of Myth they like in a different form they also enjoy. For example, some mapmakers already do some of this by making new stuff to run on the same engine. Some even go as far as wanting to have huge armies battle when we all know Myth's gameplay is about using a small group of units.

i agree the ONLY factor that made Myth so great isn't that it wasn't an FPS, that was obviously an exaggeration on my part. I must have gotten carried away in my reaction to positing a FPS as Myth-like game. As an exception to my own over-generalization, I think Briarsus' (sp?) Total War Myth conversion looks quite interesting.
That said, I strongly believe that even if Myth had the same richness of story/campaign, the same units and physic and the gore and anything else not integral to the type of game it was it but had been a FPS it would have been just another mediocre run-of-the-mill game and no one would still be playing it today and we wouldn't be having this conversation.

However, Myth with a FPS option would be awesome, be able to zoom in and see what a unit is seeing, while the AI takes over...
Anyways...
