random observation: In looking for a good copy of a myth document on my HD that had a size of zero k, I did a search and discovered that I have 1,193 files on my various harddrives named 'www.mumbojumbo.html - all with the same creation date/size. and it's not a file-find OS bug, the documents are in different folders. so that means I have that many different folders with that document in them as well.

Did you ever have any malware issues on this machine (that you are aware of)? That is the first thing that comes to my mind.

Nah, VR just has a LOT of everything, and in this case, many many copies.

my *guess* - from the fact that the saved files have 'www' in the filename is that they are the results of a websitesucker program with bad settings. i've seen instances where if you don't have the link filter/threshold set properly a sitesucker pgm will save all the pages on the INTENDED site, then it will follow the links to external sites, and if the settings are REALLY not right it might be saving remote sites THEN following those links. If a site you are saving links to an external site and that external site links back to your original site it might be creating a loop. I have had sitesaves chug away for a _long_ time - until I killed them after noticing they were saving google pages or completely unrelated stuff like that. I just know there is _no_ way I have saved the same site 1000+ times, and if I did it manually at all I wouldn't have included www in the filename. so not 1000. But 20? Maybe, over the course of 10 years I might have grabbed it every few months , but no way 100 or 10000 times.

So, eventually as I clean up those folders maybe I'll be able to tell from the folder structure if it looks like a recursion error. it has to be though, that's the only thing that makes any sense.

There is no Mumbo Jumbo, in terms of the group that created Myth 3. Take 2 fired the entire time as soon as the game went gold. They were essentially screwed by Take 2, one of the reasons we hate the company.

Because Take2 has essentially eliminated any connection it had with Myth after the failure of The Wolf Age due to it being rushed to release months before it was ready and left in a buggy state. Take2 does not acknowledge it's existence, even though it still owns the franchise, which is why Myth is in the sad state it's in.

Also: The word "sisyphean" means "endless and unavailing, as labor or a task".
