Can Myth 1.8 Support any form of cutscene format?

This might be a stupid question, but would Myth 1.8 support cutscenes, if they were in a different format?

I know the old Smacker Video format is dead, but would a more modern format like MP4 or AVI work? — Say, even if the old files were recorded/converted to a newer format?

Is this an idea that's been explored before, or does it breach copyright?

They support movs. You can download all the cutscenes in higher quality on The Tain.

Windows, Mac OS X, and I think even the Linux builds of Myth2 1.8.0 can support MOV. Mac Classic however still uses smacker format and Windows can use smacker if a MOV version of the cutscene is not already in there. Linux can also play MPG.

Myth II Cutscenes in MOV
Myth TFL Cutscenes in MOV (for use with The Fallen Levels)

The cutscenes must be in the "cutscenes" folder in your Myth II folder.

Thanks for the quick replies Pyro and GodzFire!

I've had the cutscenes converted as .mov (QuickTime), from memory I think I used VLC and QuickTime 7 for my conversion about a year ago, these files do not seem to work, I will check the format again once I get home; perhaps I can reconvert them using other video editing software...

Thanks for letting me know of the HQ versions of the cutscenes available for download, I didn't know about those. - If I can't get the files I currently have working then I will download them from online.

You don't want to try and convert the SMKs. Just download the official ones off TheTain.
