I think Rurik boosts Alric's morale. WHERE would Myth 2 be without of him?

True that.

They certaintly wouldn't have gotten past level 3 to beat soulblighter if it wasn't for Rurick's incessant nagging about Tallow being this way or that way.

Alric doesn't mind going to face Soulblighter because he knows that when he gets home if he wins his battle he'd need to put up with thousands of identical Ruriks cheering. The ammount of Rurikness involved would cause him to get OOS and drop, so he'd have to die anyway.

Well in Level 2, there are 5 different Ruricks which must mean its 5 of Alrics personalities. So Alric must have cloned himself. :0

It's a great shame.

You can make a better version of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones with some Map-making tools than George Lucas did with all his millions.
