Fear/Loathing on M1 macs?

Post by Lugas »

Are the latest versions of Fear/Loathing (w/ v1.8.4) not compatible with M1 macs? I upgraded some time ago and I still seem to have 32-bit intel binaries.

Unfortunately, they are indeed not compatible.

Oh well.

Are there plans to make it so next time round?

What about Oak? Or is that not M1 compatible either?

I believe Oak should work. I forget if the latest build we have posted is 64-bit, if not, I can release an updated one.

For Fear and Loathing, it's simply too much work to port them over. Unless there's a volunteer who wants to do it, it's not going to happen. And even if someone wanted to work in this area, it may be better to just add the missing functionality to Oak. At least for Fear, it's not that much stuff to port over.

As an aside, I think it's possible to use CrossOver to run the Windows versions. (But CrossOver is a paid product, I believe Wine itself doesn't support M1 compatibility).
