Someone archived some music which they downloaded from the iTunes music store and sent it to me. I can't listen to it however because it prompts me for the other guy's password.
What can I do to listen to those files? cough, cough, hexedit?cough, ahem.

i believe itunes likes to encrypt things encoded within it or downloaded from the itunes store. if the encryption key is his password, though, the solution is easy: just get his password!

To my knowledge there is no way to crack a song downloaded in iTunes 6 or higher. However if there was it would not be a good idea for us to tell you on this board, as that would be a federal offense violating the DMCA. If you really wanna be able to crack songs write your congressman and tell him how much you hate the DMCA

Oh hell there's a way to crack anything.
But in this case yeah - just get the password off yer friend.

Your right WW, I should have rephrased that. I'm sure there is a way. But no ones figured it out yet. At least that I've seen. The easy way is to burn it to CD then reimport. But your gonna need the password for that first.
