I know for a fact I used to run Myth I with a Voodoo 2 card and it worked great without any problems. As far as I can tell, using a Voodoo 1 or 2 card (and possibly a Voodoo Rush or Banshee card) is a way to guarantee Myth TFL will work with Glide. Voodoo 2 is by far the best way to go of those opti...

I'm building a windows 98 system with 256 MB of ram, so no worries there. Aside from Myth, I'd also like to get good ol' Mechwarrior 2 running along with the X-Wing games and some others. With every windows update, more and more older titles are failing to work properly. For me it is well worth it t...

Patch history of Myth I and Myth II (and glide support) ?

Hello ! I am hoping someone here can confirm for me which versions of Myth I and II were the last official versions from Bungie. If it is known where I can find those patches, that would be great too ! I'm having a very difficult and confusing time finding them. I am building an older system for pla...

I've just recently came around to see what is going on with Myth after all these years, so I don't know all the background factors in play here. To an outsider, any fuss about which server to use is absolutely mind boggling. This is especially true considering that the games are not even hosted on t...

You've got the Playmyth administrator threatening to pull the plug at the first sign of trouble, and you've got the Mariusnet administrator pledging that the server will be fully supported for many, many years. Additionally, I've noticed Purple People Eater is still an active member of the community...

Hello Frumius, Thanks for what you are doing ! As a new player, it can be embarrassing to enter a match as one would think that most all of the people still playing Myth are veterans that know the game inside and out. How are the players dispersed in the games ? Are there just two teams with many pl...

The size of the battlefield would not change, the benefit would be that you could see more of it without scrolling around. This type of feature is possible but would have to be built into the software/hardware. Note that in Myth you can't see enemy units that are not nearby your own units anyway, so...

I was indeed mistaken. OpenGL was not used, it was 3Dfx's Glide .

I've got a Geforce 3 card that works fine with the game, I just remember the landscape looking smoother back then. Maybe the Glide made it look a little better, or maybe its just me.

Direct3D vs Opengl

Is there a noticable quality difference in the scenery when comparing D3D to Opengl rendering ? When I played Myth in 1997, I had one of those Monster 3D cards by 3dfx that used opengl. I seem to remember that the landscape looked a lot smoother back then. Maybe it was the Landscape Filtering ? I do...

Thanks for the replys and the great link. I've always avoided the higher levels because I thought my units' performance would be crippled. It is good to know that is not the case. I love the way Bungie handled the difficulty levels. It certainly adds to the replayability too ! Now I am gonna be cool...

What do the difficulty levels in Myth affect ?

I have always played Myth with normal difficulty.

Do the difficulty levels in Myth affect just the number of enemies, or do they modify the strength and abilities of the units (less attack range, slower, less health, etc.) ? Does that go for 3rd party solos as well ?

If I have already installed 1.6 without selecting Fear and Loathing, can I simply run the 1.6 update again and install it on top of my current install. Would that delete any files or cause any problems ?

Thread Title Says it All !

I would also like to thank the Project Magma group and the rest of the Myth community for what has been done since Bungie left the scene. I am amazed at the level of continued development that Myth has undergone. Myth is my all time favorite game ever and now I can play it again for years to come th...
