Re: Need Project Magma Expert opinion
Right. Likewise, in actuality, the game does not end when all flags are captured; it ends one tick after all flags are captured, regardless of the state of the game at that time. This is no more unreasonable than the game of basketball ending when the ball touches down after the buzzer, rather than ...

Yes. See basketball, buzzer beater.Melekor wrote:It is unreasonable to collect the scores one tick after the end of the game. Have you ever heard of a game where the score changes after the game has already ended?

Re: Need Project Magma Expert opinion
Yeah of course it's a bug. There are 6 flags on that map with the gametype territories. It still had time left before it ran out of time. It ended sooner because one team captured all 6 flags. If it ran out of time and there was a contested flag the game would be in sudden death meaning it would be...

Re: Soulblighter additions Spike's wish list
I have another addition to the wish list: As host, I would like to know my game's IP address (I play a lot of TCP/IP). This is a bad thing to want ;) (To be clear on why: if you're behind NAT, you do not have the IP of your router; your router simply forwards requests to you. This is important beca...

Re: Need Project Magma Expert opinion
That's only the conclusion if scoring is considered to happen when the game ends. If you score one tick after, like the game does, they win with five flags.
(Though it looks like Myrd just declared the current behaviour a bug, so I guess you're right.)

Re: Myth TFL Beta 3 Information Found
Dwarven suiciders. Wonder if they had dorfs that blew themselves up like wights. Almost made a unit like that for DoD(dark), but it was hard enough! You change the meaning here; it's Dwarven Suicide Brigade, which doesn't necessarily imply deliberate suicide. For example, the group in Sons of Myrga...

Re: Recordings File Format
It'd be a bit of a trick to filter out the garbage, and information about who said a given thing in in-game chat (as well as win/loss info) is lost, but you get a decent chunk of what you're looking for by just running strings on the film.

Re: System Requirements: Past, present, and future.
System requirements are a poorly-defined black art, and I can't find any evidence that they were produced from the appropriate orifice for either 1.5 or 1.7. The manual on the Tain says: Required (Recommended) Windows: 133MHz Pentium (200MHz+) Windows 95, 98, or NT4.0SP3 32MB RAM 4x+ CD-ROM Drive SV...

Version control! You know you want to.
I've noticed that at long ranges, a Storm will often come up short of its target, sometimes well short, usually wasting a very large amount of mana. Is there any chance for a fix for this, or if not, do you have any insight as to what might cause it?

Re: Mazz VI: Wisdom of the Mancers
I'm not sure how it would actually be implemented, but a possible replacement for the Demon Lord in the force-people-to-move-around-the-map role might be to introduce a unit that doesn't respect visibility, tends to not move much, and does something that's dangerous across the entire map and gets wo...

Better be careful, then; I didn't see ChrisP releasing the Mazz VI v3 beta patch into the public domain

Re: Mazz VI: Wisdom of the Mancers
As pyro said, the 2 kill thrall probably helped us a lot, but I think you might want to make the first thrall waves iron thrall as in SL. As it is, the extra big thrall waves in the beginning just allow you to vet up even easier. In the absence of double-vetting I'd argue this isn't a problem; FG i...

Re: Mazz VI: Wisdom of the Mancers
Once I have the Ranger vetted, I only focus on helping stop midbosses like the Beholder, Maralith, Lich, etc. Besides that I do a little killing of the warlocks, since Ranger's usually the only one who can reach them. I do not TOUCH any of the mobs enemies. It's usually those plus the annoyance ene...
