Never had QT7 installed on this machine, no. But I do wonder if Myth II is using an old API that has been removed in Catalina.

Just wanted to chime in to report that I've been having the same or similar issue on a Late 2016 MBP. The cutscenes worked previously, so it is probably related to Catalina. (I'm currently on 10.15.4.) The QuickTime files open and play just fine if I open them directly from Finder. The error differs...
