Re: Is it possible to remove the "M2" label in metaserver lobbies?
Thanks, Myrd, much appreciated. I didn't see where _player_show_version_flag should be sent as it's not mentioned in the GoS codebase, and I couldn't figure it out from the C codebase either, but setting the game version to 0 in the player data packet worked great.

Is it possible to remove the "M2" label in metaserver lobbies?
When you sign into a Myth 2 metaserver lobby, there's a "M2" label that conflicts with the rank icon, if there is one. Since the only active metaservers are for M2 these days anyway, is it possible to remove the M2 label? https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/614892717499220015/1186012443...

How is are tag value conflicts resolved in Myth 2?
More specifically: in my metaserver plugin I'm editing the strings in the string list "internal abbreviated scoring". Looking in Oak, it looks like the Patch 1.8 Interface plugin also sets these values and is taking precedence over the values I set in my metaserver plugin. I know I can cha...

Re: Myth II 1.8.3 Public Beta
Bug: film I recorded on 1.8.3 beta in a game with mixed clients (beta and non) is broken. Expected: Normal film playback behavior Actual: At around 7 minutes gametime remaining, no new player input is seen in the film. No one talks after that point and units only finish obeying existing commands. (T...

How does Myth networking code work, roughly?
I was thinking about this last night and my curiosity is piqued. What gets sent across the wire during a network game to keep everyone playing the same game, in sync? I know there's some randomness in the game, like the exact amount of health each unit has at the start, how much damage a blow strike...

Hey! What TFLer could forget you and the other VR guys and playing plenty of VR Pool Party (!). What a great map. I was kind of a nobody on TFL, but I played as Deathblade (blue color and green dragon avatar).

Problems running metaserver
So I'm trying to run the metaserver code (rev 67) on a remote server but I'm unable to connect to it on my machine. Here's what I've tried... Launched an Amazon EC2 micro instance running Ubuntu 12.04 precise. Got a static IP address. Installed gcc and g++ with apt-get. Also installed apache2 and ve...

Re: Myth II 1.7.1 Public Beta #2
Since using the beta #2 (this issue did not seem to appear in beta #1) I have been having problems which are similar to problems I had in 1.6. Basically, around 1 in 4 games are completely unplayable. The symptoms are that sound becomes choppy, the camera becomes choppy, if i try to chat the input d...

While I'm at school I wouldn't want to see either, since I have a cap here. But (and maybe I'm getting ahead of myself) those who don't want to seed could disable that feature, and those who do want to seed could set a maximum upload cap for myth torrenting. Myth could keep track of who seeds the mo...

Re: Auto-downloads?
most myth hosts aren't going to have anonymous ftp access enabled on their machines for anyone to download a map/plugin from. warcraft 3 accomplishes this without requiring the host to enable anonymous FTP outside the game, no? i too think that this feature would be one of the largest improvements ...

No. It's illogical for chess to not change the units because using normal myth units would mess up the gameplay. In RISK, you have a certain chance of winning a battle. Just like when two warriors fight. In chess, its not like when your pawn goes to capture the enemy pawn, the enemy pawn can someho...
