Re: Loathing map actions mesh limits

It probably should be 1024 then, this sounds like it may be an issue with Loathing not supporting the new limit fully, rather than the limit increase not being implemented.

You are using the 1.7 version of Loathing I expect? What platform, Mac or PC?

Re: Trow Iron Warrior - Work in Progress (800x600) Pictures

Was this the same unit used by The Great Journey II? I found the Trow Iron Warrior in that to be very overpowered as pretty much nothing can stop it besides a huge melee mob, but the Iron Warrior will easily kill five or six beserks before it dies, and probably more when it does die due to the damag...

Re: Group Of Coops 2

I'm talking about making them invisible and visible several times a second so for all practical purposes you have 1600 units active across that entire second :D The reason these limits exist though for projectiles and monsters is that they can be costly to calculate, and Myth does most things in lin...

Re: Group Of Coops 2

If you made some of the archers invisible and visible again you could in theory have far more. Assuming it takes them say 8 ticks to fire off an arrow, then you could tell the first batch to fire, make them invisible, make the next batch visible, tell them to fire, and repeat for a theoretical 1,600...

Re: Myth on xbox360 as xbox live arcade game ?

While I haven't played Halo Wars, it's a resource-management RTS; keeping individual units alive is not as important so fine control isn't necessary. I think it's just too different a game to compare really. In Halo Wars are you ever given only five or six units to use for the entire battle, and hav...

Re: MacHeist bundle

Sometimes word-of-mouth can be more valuable than paid advertising; by letting apps be given away for free for a while, you can generate interest from new people as well who will pay to get the same useful features they've seen or heard their friends talking about. I dunno if that's the idea in this...

Re: Myth on xbox360 as xbox live arcade game ?

Personally I think Myth would be unplayable on XBox 360 or PS3 unless you were using a keyboard and mouse anyway; control using the analogue sticks would be pretty unwieldy, a mouse is pretty important for playing Myth I think. An iPhone or similar touch-device stands more of a chance, but then they...

Re: Cable Modem tips please. for a newb

While various governments seem to be clamping down on it now, you'll find that most DSL cable providers will always quote you "up to" X amount of bits per second, the modem in this case is irrelevant as you're always going to be limited by your distance from an exchange and various other n...

Re: Have you experienced crashes in Myth II 1.7?

Generally it's not an issue of whether it can be done, but whether it will break everything if it is done :)

So not for a 1.7.x release I think.

Re: Dubious Ratings

If data could be tied into Mariusnet then that would be awesome. I don't know what kind of data can be retrieved or how easy it'd be to tie into the Tain though, but a record of games completed with four or more players would be useful to see how many definite games have been played on a map, or wit...

Re: Dubious Ratings

That's definitely an abuse of the system; regardless of how others have rated a file you should rate it based on what you think it deserves, and comment on why and if needed why you don't think it deserves a 5 rating. The purpose of adding a rating is give your take on a map, not negate someone else...

Isn't Iron's app only for maps? It depends what you need ported exactly, if it's just a tagset it can be done using a few other tools instead.

Can't we just drown the trolls the old-fashioned way? Water-boarding really is underrated as a solution to pretty much any problem.

Re: Dubious Ratings

It's true that there simply isn't enough volume for the ratings system to work properly. Giving control to the mapper though wouldn't be much better, as they may remove genuine ratings they simply don't agree with. Really it'd need normal moderation. A report button may be better, which basically ju...

Could someone from projectmagma confirm this statement? (i.e. I am not asking you Renwood, to repeat this claim, I am looking for independant confirmation) I ask because that sounds like a really bizarre request which I could understand if yoiur project used features that weren't going to be availa...
