I got serveral problems running Myth 1.5.

My system specs:
Microsoft Windows XP version 2002
Service Pack 2

I've set the Registry Editor to the place where I installed Myth as told in the install guide on pm.net.

When I try to start Myth, I have the following problems:

1. Sometimes I see a black screen but I hear the music on the background.

The only way to get out of this screen is by pressing alt+tab and then ctrl+alt+deleting the application.

2. Somtimes myth works, I log on to playmyth.net and play games. However sometimes in the lobby or in a hosted game lobby my computer just freezes and get stuck.

The only way to get out of that is by ressetting.

3. Sometimes I try to start Myth and I get booted to a blue screen with all kinds of errors.

About the myth log, I can't seem to find any errors.. This is my current myth log:

The "falling back to DX3 code" line is a bit of a worry. It'd almost certainly be worth your while going to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/ and getting the latest version of DirectX. You may well find that Myth supports Direct3D as well after you've done this.

Also, go into Myth Preferences and uncheck 3D Sound (if its checked) as that's been known to cause crashes on some machines.

"Myth II Build 234 running under Modern Windows 4.000000" ???

That doesn't look right for Windows XP. Did you set it to run under "compatibility mode" under Properties? If so, change it back, because it doesn't need it. Also, if you have 3D sound enabled, try to disabling it, because it can cause crashes sometimes.

Good catch Myrd...XP Should never report 4.0 unless something like compatibility mode has been fooled with.

It looks like his compat mode might be set to NT, which would then make sense for it to fall back to the DX3 code. Since that was the default for running Myth under NT.

Allright I installed the newest Direct3D.

I never had 3D sound enabled btw. So here is my myth log:

I removed the compatibility mode. I can start myth just fine now it seems. However when I am in the lobby for about 10 minutes I seem to crash.

Its fine when I keep playing games, but when I'm in the lobby or a game lobby for about 10 minutes I always seem to crash.
