Fate of Myth for Mac/Intel

In the wake of all the news about Apple moving to Intel, there's a burning question on my mind. Will Myth be moved over to the new binary code?

It may be a mute point with the Rosetta technology and the age of Myth... equaling no real performance drop. But it would be comforting to see a native version for the new hardware.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

I'm sure we'll be able to create a native version for whatever new platform they come out with, as long as it comes with a C compiler :-) Making a native version shouldn't be more complicated than recompiling the code.

We should have an Intel native build of Myth II before they ship the first machine. In the next couple of weeks we will also do some benchmarking to see how it runs in emulation mode. Either way our goal will be to have a fat binary shipping by the time they release the machines. Look a lookout of announcements in the coming months. We will also be coordinating efforts with FlyingFlip to have a fat binary of Myth III also. As for TFL there are no plans for it beyond the soon to ship 1.5 update. With the solo levels ported to Myth II and TFL mode working very well in Myth II, it is hard to find a reason to keep updating TFL beyond 1.5.

Didn't they say that before TFL 1.4? :P

Actually I don't remember - but it's amazing to see you guys work on this stuff, I remain ever impressed. Keep up the fantastic work.
Okay I got the models but now I'm too dumb to do anything with 'em

What about the continued ability to play other TFL plugs?

TFL will run fine in Rosetta emulation mode. New Intel Macs, when released, will be powerful enough to emulate adequately TFL, which was designed for hardware from 1997.

When they say 'going to Intel' who does that imply that they're leaving?

The thread is old, but has anyone tried running any of the Myth games on one of the new Macintel machines now that they are actually shipping?
Lots of Myth stuff at http://mythgraveyard.org.
Sometimes I put hard to find stuff in my my Udogs folder.
