In TFL there were certain plugins which has units that could lower the mesh permanently. For example in forged north or haxoredfin the duff satchels and princess dwarves respectively could raise or lower the mesh, respectively. I've been experimenting with mesh effects in fear for myth 2 but can't get the same results. Any ideas?

check out the last level of the bushido solo, where a series of projectile detonations cause the mesh to deform. i forget how its done (i did it myself with real craters many years ago - you can find it in the tain archive on udoghl as real craters or some such), but by choosing the right propagation speed i think you can make it permanent in the mesh.

You might want to look and see if you can find the vietnam units plug-in (there are several). One of them has a cannon in it which leaves a crater.

I've never really used it but it's achieved by entering particular numbers in for a mesh effect, a really high speed with a negative height and negative dispitation (so the effect actually get's stronger rather than weaker) might do it. Unless you can find on of the plug-ins that does it then it's gonna be a trial and error affair just trying different combinations of numbers. Mesh effects are fun anyway so it shouldn't be too hard going :)

Not done by an explosion, but the Journeyman Engineer unit (I think that's the name) alters the height of a mesh point via his special ability.
Lots of Myth stuff at http://mythgraveyard.org.
Sometimes I put hard to find stuff in my my Udogs folder.

The vietnam units I used to have also had an artillery cannon which left really nice craters. You can't use these on any mesh with models (unless it's scripted to be well away from the models) or it will create weird mesh effects.

Check out WWII Propack here.
this is a plug by Road that uses 1.5 features w/ wwii units. One of the items you can pick up is a shovel, which lets you dig holes to hide in. Just find out which mons tag is overridden by the shovel, and you should be good to go.
