Today a serious bug was demonstrated for me on Mazzarin's Demise V which allows you to create unlimited duplicates of any found item. By now I expect the news of how to do it has begun spreading around. Obviously, with the way game-play works on Mazz V, this utterly destroys any balance or challenge to the game.

Just as obviously, I can't simply ask people not to exploit this bug. Though it can make beating Legendary easier than Timid, it's just too fun to resist making two dozen copies of a celestial justice bow, golem crystal, or whatever. Even when a group of players gathers to play seriously, there will always be someone who will ruin it on the team.

While I really hate to release a version 2 of Mazz V, in this case I don't think there is any other option if the plugin is going to "survive". By tomorrow night I hope to have ready a fixed full version as well as patches for Plugin Patcher and Omnipatch applications. The patches should be under 200 KB so no one will have to re-download the whole 49 Megs again if they don't want to. I'll have links to where people can download Plugin Patcher or Omnipatch from uDog's HL and write simple directions for how to use them.

My apologies for this inconvenience. Mazz V certainly received more testing than most maps, but with a map so complex, using so many new 1.5.1 map making features, it's difficult to discover every single weird permutation that can cause problems. I hope everyone will be understanding.

Finally, any Heroic wins using this exploit do not count towards winning the contest. Since no one has posted regarding a win yet anyway, as of the time of this post, winning the contest will require using version 2 of the plugin.

My thanks to everyone who has downloaded and played Mazz V so far, and I hope you've enjoyed it. Again, sorry about this screw-up.

That bug is not limited to Mazz V, I first discovered exactly how it works a few weeks ago on HoC.

I later tested it on the old Syndicate beta, and found it makes ammo unlimited for everything (rocket launcher looks like it has 3 shots, fire them and it displays 0, yet still you can keep on firing).

The only way to properly remove such a bug is either to get it fixed in a new proper 1.5.2 build, or remove the ability of multiple artifacts on your units.

Cap, I've never seen that happen before. Granting the benefit of the doubt, I just spent 20 minutes trying to recreate it with no success. My guess is that haxoring in 130 extra zerks is causing the bug, along with dozens of others you didn't notice.

The fixed full version of Mazz V, as well as a tiny Omnipatch file for those who use Omnipatch, can be found in this folder:

http://hl.udogs.net/files/Myth%20II%201.5%20Stuff/Plugins/released/

I hope to test it out on PMnet tonight and make it official tomorrow.

130 zerks made it happen. It appears to be okay when they are not present, aka, vetting works as expected.
