I've been going through my big archive of Myth recordings, at the moment I've got about 1500 of 'em (plus many many more on CD).

Is there any way to tell which version of Myth that each recording was made with? Apart from opening each one?

Heya WW,

If you zip your recordings up for me in a single file (with all of them in one folder) and post it somewhere I can download, I'll run 'em through my Film Renamer & Cataloger which will spit out a nice text catalog of *all* the films. It shows 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 (alas the subversions are not stored in the films - correct me if I'm wrong iron) along with tons of other info (everything you can get from 'em). I'll even repost the renamed films in a separate zip for you to grab. :)

I currently run it on our (Order of H'Pak) films, which now number more than 4,200 (yes, you read that correctly). Because this catalog is so big, I only post it in the form of a zipped XL spreadsheet for public consumption:
OoH Game Catalog XL Spreadsheet (zipped)

It also cranks out a sweet chat extraction with all the funky extended ASCII chars converted to HTML. Here's a sample from one of the OoH MWC'05 Matches:
OoH MWC'05 Chat Sample
(I even include Planning Time (PT), Sudden Death (SD), and Post Game (PG) indicators)

Give me a few days to get to it, but post the zip and I definitely will. :)

Of course it does :) - it's just that there was almost entirely whisper chat in that MWC game. Look at the top and bottom of the first game to see "Yell:" vs. "Whisper:"...

WW: Just let me know when you've got them zipped (please put them all in one folder) and posted.

If there are maps I don't have (such as beta or obscure ones - I have some 1100+ maps) the renaming won't include the map name (obviously), but you'll still get all the other information.

I also created another script that generates a "summary" of all the films in a catalog. Here's ours as of Sept 4 (I haven't updated last two weeks yet):
OoH Game Catalog Summary

Ahhh... Nothing like a bowl full of stats... :D

The short answer is: yeah, kinda. :;):

The long answer is:

I created a script version of the Film Renamer & Cataloger (originally written in C/C++ using C++Builder for Windows) that does indeed process TFL and Wolf Age films as well. But some of the "extras", like chat extraction and detailed gathering of tags for custom game flags/balls, only exists in the Myth II C/C++ version as of today. It's C-O-M-P-L-E-X (essentially reverse engineering everything) and there's only so much time...

These scripts I wrote in Perl awhile back and are tedious to revisit (Perl being a write-only language: write something once and you can never read it again!). One of these scripts extracts all game type information on top of the usual plugin/map(i.e. mesh) information including custom tags for balls/flags and even goes so far as to determine "King of the Ball" type koh games, multiple balls/flags for all game types, etc. I seriously went nuts with it. :)

My original idea with the script version of the FR&C was to make a web-based "Myth Film Processor" that would allow you to upload zips of films and get the processed films back. All stats for your own films would be separated and also included in a massive "myth community stats" that could be interesting to check out. Alas, the community started shrinking quite a bit at that point and incentive became less and less, so I cranked out "Rocket Dorf Fest!!" and have been working on similar projects ever since (some coming VERY soonâ„¢).

Right now I'm in the process of converting this script along with another top-secret project over to Python. All of it will focus on completing Myth II first and then see whether or not I have time and/or incentive to go to TFL and Wolf Age (there are some major differences in TFL whereas WA is quite similar to SB).

All of this is "during my free time" and is a personal challenge to see how far I can make it work, so there is no timeline or guarantees as to when or if something will appear. It's a ton of work but quite fun and satisfying. :)

Baak: Will do.

Cap: Why would you want it for TFL though, I thought 1.3 could playback films made under older versions?
Or do you just want the nifties like stats?
