The Scene: The Myth Lobby

The Time: 20 mins after my afternoon nap

The Protaganists: Me, Myself and Tulkas

The Idea: Coop Tourney

Errr...yeah! So the matter got brought up between us and I expanded on some of my eearlier ideas towards running one, just thought I'd post some shiz here for anyone to see.

Any coop tourney cannot totally rely on the default coop maps. The reason is that everyone knows the little exploits etc of the scripting. Although of course with 3rd party maps, a few people will have a distinct advantage though...

Any scoring system I thought up before was highly complex and nauseating, so I came up with a simple solution...well pretty simple maybe...

Example - 10 players enter the tournament. Now their performance will be scored by kills/dmg/time/ x % remaining at end + 10 if they complete the level successfully. The person with highest dmg will get 10, 2nd best 9 and so on. The player will be marked this way in the various criteria and thus end up with a final score for that level. (scores will be calculated later by tournament officials).

No limit to players who can enter and the games must be witnessed by a tourney helper and saved. The difficulty used may vary depending on the map (since many 3rd party coops are tough). I feel the number of levels used should be more than 4-5 but no more than 10

No offence intended to Phex on his idea but it seemed mighty complicated and I understand mine :)

Of course I'd love this to go somewhere, but I don't have the attributes required to get any sort of site/forums together for it.

Probably other stuff I'll think of soon but all I can throw out for now

I'm in... Although I have a question. Do the games have to take place on Playmyth servers?, Could a team independantly host via a tcp/ip game?

Meh I liked Phex's one! It'd just be hard to find enough people with the patience (and intelligence, heh) to implement it.
Okay I got the models but now I'm too dumb to do anything with 'em

Unless either..

Someone steps up to help with a site side of things

or...

It's basically run on a forum with people submitting films straight to me.

I see no reason to restrict games to just playmyth, but a tourney helper must be present in the game so to make sure you don't keep playing til you win then sending in that film.

Honestly I'm against making this a team event, rather a solo challenge. The reason being problems with getting your team online and having 2 man teams up against 5 man teams and so forth.

Willy thats why I posted this whole concept, its easy to understand and would take minimal effort really to get it to work

just a forum sounds ok, unless Thorin wants to make something, it's his job so...

and yes, keep it solo, much easier indeed

(btw if you want me to be a tourny helper,... i can, unless you're short in players then i'll be a contestant)

If you cheat to win in a coop tourney you would be an extrememly sad man/boy and you would know it.

Ok I'll work on getting the rules/maps and stuff done and look at getting a forum somewhere (any help here much appreciated)

Ok. I'll help with the site and provide the hosting. What about a domain name?

Ok, I've quickly knocked together this
Tourney Website

I'm in the process of purchasing the domain name llancarfan.net which can use. Before I go any further I need your requirements for the site. A site structure/menu etc...

I'll set up the tourney admins with email addresses too so let me know who these are.

Once rules are finalised I'll make my desicion, but I should be in.

EDIT: I'm happy to help pick maps, but leave out thinks like TSG so 56kers can play. Not fair on them.
