But hey, here's a test!

http://rapidshare.de/files/6070680/2ndTest.mov.html

Ok, this is a crude look at what Freedom 2 cutscenes might look like once completed. I'm doing all major character movements via rotoscoping - the old animation trick where you draw over someone. It looks pretty godawful the way I've done it, but with a bit of practise it should turn out fine.
Also - for dialogue shots, I'll only be animating mouths and eyes and stuff so they'll look just fine.

Anyway, whaddya all think? The real question is - would you waste bandwidth on a cutscene that looked a little better than this?

Curious, rapidshare is always very good to me. Are you sure you pressed 'Free' and then waited until the download link appeared at the bottom?

Or are we talking about the video itself (after downloading it)? It's Sorenson 3 so if you have Quicktime, it should play just fine.

I would've put it up on hotline or my site, but Cid still hasn't gotten it so I can upload from here.

I'll probably post another link to my site instead or something, hold on a while :D

*EDIT* Ahh... something odd. When I downloaded it myself, it gave me a file that doesn't play :\
I'll try uploading a zipped version instead.

I'll try this, and if this fails I'll just put it on me site.

*EDIT* Ok now I'm pissed. I'll be back soon.

*2nd EDIT* I've officially had enough of this bullshit... hang on I'll try making it a swf instead. I don't get it - it plays fine on the computer I made it on, but if I e-mail it to myself it works no longer.

Crap for crap.

FINALLY....

Ok, it's a .swf, it's on my site and it should work. It's 600k so if it doesn't play immediately, just wait a second or even better - download it with the link underneath the thing itself.

Hope that fares better than shithouse QuickTime... to think I trusted you Jobs...

Yeah their wobble heads are the thing that shits me the most.

How long did it take? TOO LONG! :P

To be serious though - it took what, 3 hours to do each guy. Roughly. Maybe more... it's obscene, but it's only proof of concept and I'm willing to do full cutscenes for Freedom 2, but who knows!

Nah, I'm going with this style because it looks better! (Or, *will* look better if I put a tiny bit more effort in).

Considering Bungie paid $250,000 for the TFL cutscenes, yours is totally awesome so far.

(shits pants) $250 000? WOW! They were pretty cool though.

Heh, as I keep saying - mine'll be shonky. But throw on some neat music, funny voiceovers... they'll be servicable. I hope.

Anyway thanks for watching it! Always lookin' for feedback. (and sorry to hijack yer forum - just seems a neat place for it :P)
